Condor A7 update: After healing from cheek surgery at our onsite Condor Recovery Center, A7 was given a final exam & antibiotics. @YurokCondors Senior Biologist Chris West applied new transmitters & escorted A7 back to the Yurok condor site - she will be released soon!

An encouraging update on A7 (1109) from the fantastic @oakzoo team. Thanks to @SageCenters for partnering for the CT scan, which was critical to the diagnosis. A7 is recovering and under close observation, and will be returning to NorCal soon.

Condor update: we brought A7 to @SageCenters for a CT scan. Nothing serious was found, and we removed a lodged bone fragment from something she ate.

Hopefully she’ll improve quickly, and be transported back north to prepare for her upcoming release back into the wild!

A condor being prepared for release at @TheYurokTribe facility developed an infection on her beak. “A7”, a 14-16 month female, was transported to Oakland Zoo. Our vet staff treated her beak, but there is a soft tissue swelling that still needs to be investigated surgically.

It's nonstop action for our incredible vet team -- recently they headed north to the @TheYurokTribe site near Eureka to help with the arrival of 4 new CA Condors. Our team assisted w/physical exams, West Nile Virus vaccines, & taking blood samples to check health & lead levels.
