Underrated life advice: Become difficult to rush. The world will pressure you to rush into everything. Rushed decisions. Rushed relationships. Rushed conversations. Rushed timelines. There's power in rejecting that trend. Pause. Slow down. Create space to think clearly.
Verandas used to mean something. Sit outside, greet whoever passes, let the breeze do its work before you even step inside.
Now we go straight from gate to living room, AC on before the door shuts. We didn't lose the space. We just stopped using it right.
Nairobi needs less traffic cops and more traffic lights. You can’t keep people for over 10 minutes and let the other side run for even longer than normal
At a dinner Kashf hosted for bankers last night, Dr Ishrat Hussain made a striking point about how female IBA graduates remain out of the workforce. This is even stark in engineering: only 28% of Pakistan’s female engineering graduates are employed, compared with around 70% of men participating in the labour market.
Why is this happening? Education alone is not enough. Women continue to face barriers around mobility and safety, childcare, workplace flexibility, social expectations and the transition from education into meaningful careers.
Education alone isn’t enough. We must create workplaces where women can thrive. At Kashf, we work hard to provide a conducive environment that promotes gender equity, growth and opportunity.

Inflation is effectively a tax on purchasing power. If your salary rises by 5% but your cost of living rises by 8%, you have not received a real pay rise. You are 3% poorer in purchasing-power terms.
Hurts me to say this: Africa will not be saved by entrepreneurship. We cannot vibecode ourselves into the 4th industrial revolution. We still need to industrialize. To achieve this, we need stronger and better public institutions. We need extremely competent leaders at the helm.
First impression is the last impression.
Landed at JKIA from Heathrow and, for a country with serious tourism ambitions, the arrival experience needs a complete rethink. Long immigration queues are bad enough, then KRA officers go through personal luggage so thoroughly you’d think your suitcase was an undeclared container underwear included. Having travelled to 70+ countries, I’ve rarely seen ordinary personal luggage treated this way. Bro we spend millions selling Magical Kenya to the world, yet the real Kenyan experience begins the moment a visitor lands. Security and revenue collection are necessary. But efficiency, dignity and hospitality matter too.A world-class destination deserves a world-class front door. 🇰🇪
JKIA tonight is unacceptable. Endless immigration queues, frustrated tourists, mothers with babies and Kenyans simply trying to get home. An international airport is a country’s front door. If Kenya is serious about tourism, this cannot be the welcome we offer. @rebecca_miano@KenyaAirports@KenyaAirways
Whoever takes the reins in 2027 post-Lil Wantam, their first item on the agenda should be to review MPs' salaries DOWNWARDS.
We can't be having lawmakers who are increasingly becoming lapdogs of the Executive while busy driving around in fuel guzzlers.
The wild thing about this Nairobi/Kenya flooding, is that not a drop of that water will be harvested. Not a single drop.
Which means, in a few months, we will be back on the drought, dry asf, water scarcity, dry taps cycle.
SingaPathetic 😩
Kenyan towns hukua so mentally exhausting
- Watch the boda behind you
- Watch the vendor in front of you
- Watch your bag & pockets
- Watch traffic
- Step over litter like it’s normal
I can't believe we pay taxes & accept to live like this when organized towns are possible
Every time I see someone switch careers, I’m reminded that life is a journey of discovery. You can enjoy a course of study but find the actual work unfulfilling. It is okay to start over to find something you love. We are capable of evolving, so don't settle until you find it.
Sarit and Yaya aren’t malls, they are space missions.
You know the shop you need.
You just don’t know its coordinates.
Once you enter, you become Voyager 1.
Still alive… but lost.
In both places we don’t look for shops.
We search for clues.
“Did you pass Miniso?”
“Yes.”
“Then you are close. ”
