Pi Network Hit With $10 Million Fraud Lawsuit as Community Disputes Key Claims 👀.
MUST READ CAREFULLY 👇
Is it true?
Yes, the lawsuit itself is real.
(Verified across multiple sources including court filings, Bloomberg, CoinTelegraph, The Block, and local Vietnamese news):
On December 5–6, 2025, a group of 33 Vietnamese Pi Network pioneers filed a civil lawsuit in the People’s Court of Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi, Vietnam. They are suing three individuals who are alleged regional leaders or high-ranking “pioneers” in Vietnam’s Pi community (not the core Pi Network team or the Stanford founders Nicolas Kokkalis et al.)
The plaintiffs claim they were induced to spend money (buying goods/services, paying fees, recruiting others, etc.) based on promises that Pi coins would soon be worth a lot of money on major exchanges., promises the defendants allegedly knew were false or unrealistic.
Total damages sought:
1. Approximately 258 billion Vietnamese dong ≈ $10 million USD.
2. The lawsuit accuses the defendants of “fraudulent appropriation of property” under Vietnam’s penal code, but it is filed as a civil case so far.
CLARIFICATIONS: this is where a lot of FUD and exaggeration comes in:
1. @Picoreteam Network company itself is NOT named as a defendant in this case.
2. The founders (Nicolas, Chengdiao) are not being sued.
3. This is happening in Vietnam only and involves local community leaders, not the global project directly.
4. Pi Network official stance (from their December 2025 blog post and Telegram announcements):
they distance themselves from any regional volunteers or bartering groups making price promises, saying those violate their terms, and they never authorized anyone to promise specific valuations or listing dates.
So is the headline accurate?
✅ Technically yes, there is a $10M fraud lawsuit related to Pi Network.
✅ Most people reading that headline will think the Pi Network company or founders are being sued for fraud in the US or something similar.
✅ In reality it’s a local dispute in Vietnam against community members who allegedly went rogue.
Summary:
The lawsuit is real but relatively small in the grand scheme (33 people, one country, not against the core team).
It highlights a real problem Pi has had for years:
Overzealous community members in some regions (especially Southeast Asia) making wild financial promises that the core team never endorsed.
This is bad PR for $Pi right before their rumored open mainnet launch (expected Q4 2025 or Q1 2026), but legally it does not appear to threaten the project itself at this stage.
Expect more such lawsuits if/when Pi actually launches and the coin trades far below the $100–$314,159 prices some pioneers were promised verbally.
The event happened?
→ True.
The implication that Pi Network as a project is being sued for fraud?
✍️ → heavily exaggerated & misleading.
