You may have seen this impressive tumbling technique in Shen Yun performances, where a dancer completes a front walkover in the air without using the hands. Known as Front Aerial, or “Qian Ting 前挺,” this dynamic movement is a fundamental skill in classical Chinese dance.
In this episode, principal dancer Angelia Wang introduces front aerial, breaking down the technique and showing what it takes to master this essential movement. Essentially a front walkover without the hands, a front aerial requires strength, flexibility, coordination, and precise control. As dancers progress, this fundamental skill can be incorporated into increasingly challenging and complex combinations.
