In response to online speculation about #LISA's debut Met Gala 2025 outfit, @LouisVuitton spoke to New York Times, debunking theories on the faces seen on Lisa's bodice belonging to historical figures. Besides that, clarifications also came from Vogue France and GQ.
-NYT: "“The lace replicates elements of an artwork by the American artist Henry Taylor depicting portraits of figures who have been a part of the artist’s life,” Louis Vuitton wrote in a statement about Lisa’s outfit construction.
Mr. Taylor [...] recently painted a portrait of Pharrell Williams, the men’s wear creative director for Louis Vuitton, for one of the covers of Vogue’s May issue. Mr. Williams collaborated with Mr. Taylor for his debut show in Paris, embroidering miniature portraits by the artist on suits, jackets and accessories."
-Vogue France: "Henry Taylor, the famed artist behind the Pharrell Williams painting on the Vogue cover (and whom Williams calls a "genius"), helped create Lisa's look tonight. Portraits of Taylor were embroidered onto the bodice of Lisa's ensemble."
-GQ on Instagram revealed that all celebrities representing LV during Met Gala 2025 were dressed by Pharrell Williams himself, the house's men's creative director.
