@RCObsGyn Women's acute procedural pain is under-treated by @RCObsGyn-trained gynaecologists.
1 in 3 suffer SEVERE pain and distress during camera test of the womb (aka ambulatory hysteroscopy).
We're made to attempt surgery with no anaesthetic or sedation.
Have you experienced late or long-term effects from a painful/traumatic outpatient #hysteroscopy?
Please complete our anonymous survey, which gathers Patient Reported Outcome Measures & goes to @RCObsGyn, @NHSGIRFT, @VictoriaAtkins

Happy #MothersDay 💐😊
Today can bring happiness to many but for others, it's a day full of sadness & complex emotions.
For some this will be their first Mother’s Day without that special person. For others, it'll be one of many. Our thoughts are with you all ❤️
I can’t reiterate enough, low mood can be massively helped with physical exercise. Get on a bike, go for a run, brisk walk, do an online workout, get to the gym or pool. Meet a friend, less likely to not go that way. Create a good habit.. you’ll never regret time spent exercising
Are you one of the 1:3 women who has had a painful #hysteroscopy (womb endoscopy)?
Please help @HysteroscopyA achieve the same pain control offered to all-gender endoscopies by completing this anonymous survey.
Thank you ⬇️

Watch out for each other. Love everyone and forgive everyone, including yourself. Forgive your anger. Forgive your guilt. Your shame. Your sadness. Embrace and open up your love, your joy, your truth, and most especially your heart ~ Jim Henson #christmas#MerryChristmas
@LeahFHardy@gracerob50 If you've been harmed by hysteroscopy without anesthetic please consider supporting @HysteroscopyA collectively we can push for an end to this barbaric procedure.
How insulting to women having pieces cut out of their wombs during #hysteroscopy! Why no IV sedation with analgesia like colonoscopy patients get? Instead we get a vocal local from David Attenborough (National Treasure though he is) narrating a cartoon. Or a custard cream.
@NatashaLgstone@ThisisDavina@gettheldown That's exactly what's happening in many outpatient #hysteroscopy clinics. Women turn up for what they think is 'something like a smear' & then are held down by 2 nurses while the hysteroscopist takes biopsies from the womb or removes small polyps. No sedation, no anaesthesia.
"I had a hysteroscopy yesterday. Never experienced pain like it. It was horrific. I was sobbing and screaming. Never again." If you're due #hysteroscopy be aware that 1/3 find outpatients severely painful. You are entitled to ask for general/regional anaesthetic or sedation.
"I always feel so guilty when I’ve inflicted so much pain on my ladies!” Recent quote from an NHS consultant gynaecologist after performing an excruciatingly painful outpatient #hysteroscopy. First do no harm? No! Too scared to blow the whistle. Trick 'n treat. Much cheaper.
Thank you @lynbrownmp for, "The NHS should not celebrate that women will 'accept' severe pain when they haven't been presented with a free and informed choice to avoid it. It is deeply disturbing to see this in a 'Good Practice Paper'." @TJustinC@RaneeThakar@mariacaulfield
The barbaric way that women are treated while undergoing a hysteroscopy has to change. UK women are suffering unnecessarily. Please follow @HysteroscopyA
A 🪡 on #hysteroscopy:
Endoscopists: Pre camera into stomach
'You can have an anaesthetic spray to numb your throat.
You can have an intravenous sedation to relax and calm you and you won't feel a thing and probably not remember anything either.'
