Earlier this year, my brother visited from Vancouver with his two daughters. Along with my other brother, who lives just outside Toronto with his three sons, and my own three kids, we took all eight cousins downtown to Ripley’s Aquarium.

After the aquarium, we jumped on a streetcar to Medieval Times.

All eight kids, aged 3 to 8 at the time, ran to the back while the dads paid up front.

When we got to the back, they were all huddled around a homeless man who was passed out in his seat, had pissed himself and all over the floor, and had a very conspicuous crack pipe sitting on his lap.

We dragged the kids to the front, waited for our stop, and shuffled off. We spent the rest of the week driving.

I suspect most Torontonians have experienced some version of this

If you want more people spending more time on transit and in parks, rather than in cars and backyards, or outside of the city altogether, you need to clean this shit up.

These two Romanians are in the Toronto area trying to scam people. They pretend their car is broken down, hoping someone stops to help. If someone stops, they give the person a fake gold ring, then try to lure them over to their car.
Once they lure you to their car, anything is possible. They could take your wallet, steal your car keys, or whatever the plan is for that day.
The man who recorded this video suspected something was up and stopped. He pulled ahead, turned off his vehicle and had the keys in his pocket, just in case the score was his vehicle. He had his camera filming the moment he stepped out of the car.
The moment he approached and gave a fake gold ring off his finger, the man knew the scam was underway. It’s known as “The Confidence Game.”
