@Nestle website claims it’s important for them to provide people with transparent nutrition information to make informed food choices for a balanced diet and yet they have been found to sell baby food with added sugar in South Africa 🇿🇦 a and other poor countries, and they sell same food range without added sugars in well-off countries like Switzerland 🇨🇭
If they’re capable of producing baby food without added sugars in Switzerland and Europe, and are doing pretty well financially, so why not do it in other parts of the world?
It is not always easy for consumers in any country to tell whether a product contains added sugar, and how much is present, based on nutritional information printed on packaging alone - this is why Front of Packaged Labels are urgently needed to prevent brands like these to violate and mislead consumers.
Do you think having Front of Packaged Labels on unhealthy packaged food will help? #BetterLabelsBetterChoices

It is important for companies that produce harmful products to take responsibility for the health impacts of their products.
Do you think brands are currently taking responsibility of what they produce?
I often hear women talking about cravings when they are pregnant and often indulge on unhealthy food.
Mothers who eat an unhealthy diet during pregnancy may be putting their children at risk of developing long term, irreversible health issues.
Pregnant women need food with nutrients and stay away from food that contain high sugar, ultra-processed products and so forth.
I believe if we had clear warning labels, mothers would make better choices and choosing foods that won’t cause long-term health issues for their unborn babies. #BetterLabelsBetterChoices #HealthForAll #HealthPolicy @heala_SA
There is a lot of factors that come into play when we make groceries, we look at pricing, convenience and we often forget to look at the important aspects like nutritional facts, I went to the street to hear what influences people’s decisions when doing groceries.
I also asked if they know the dangers of sugary drinks and why they think it’s important to have warning labels on unhealthy packaged foods.
Here is what they had to say 🎥 @heala_SA
