Policy wonk, data geek, entrepreneur, skier, yogi, mom. Good at breaking things. Pondering how decision I make for my kids impact other kids.

I got into education research 20 years ago because it was the first job I got. I stayed because I started mentoring and realized how much American ingenuity and talent our education system was leaving behind. This kind of hard policy can change the system.

It is time to recognize the disparities in school funding - a student centered approach is a more equitable approach! #edcolo #coleg #education https://t.co/0Y48ADxvNw

Huge thanks to @SenJanetBuckner, @Paul_Lundeen, @McCluskieforCO, and @RoseforCO for their leadership. This is the first step toward better serving students! Now on to the house.

Skilled-talent shortages in Colorado have derailed expansions and left too many residents unemployed when so many open positions exist. A new report from @ColoradoChamber, @COSucceeds and three other groups offers recommendations on how to change that: https://t.co/YL8gqu0wKY

[Daniels Fund @Daniels_Fund]

Thank you again to the @ColoradoChamber for hosting an incredible Women's Forum last Wednesday! It was an honor to spend time with so many amazing women working across so many different fields.

@AEDukehighered I'm curious if there has been an evaluation of where these funds have gone, my observation is that many schools put them toward traditional full-time center approaches that meet the needs of faculty better than students. Still, I'm curious what the data say.

[Katie Zaback (she/her/hers) @ZabackConnects]

@chrisnellum @EdTrust I was literally on the website looking for his equity dashboards yesterday. Many of us miss him and this field misses his work (including those dashboards).

[Speaker Julie McCluskie @McCluskieforCO]

My bill with @RoseforCO, HB23-1246, unanimously passed through the House Education Committee today! I am beyond excited to help Coloradans access nearly $40 million of zero-cost credentials to boost our workforce in the state’s most critical industries. #coleg #copolitics

[Katie Zaback (she/her/hers) @ZabackConnects]

@COSucceeds member Joel Pennick testifying in support of HB23-1246 today to support zero-cost credentials in high need areas like construction. Thanks to @McCluskieforCO and @RoseforCO for bringing this important bill forward.

“If we want to hire more Colorado kids to fill STEM jobs that can lead to a living wage, we need a solid foundation of math literacy in our PreK-12 system.” Kelly Flenniken, Director of Community Relations @XcelEnergyCO and @COSucceeds board member in support of HB23-1231

[Katie Zaback (she/her/hers) @ZabackConnects]

@ItsPGR @Spencer_Fdn The next generation of governance literature is so needed! Just please actually talk to people who work within those structures to understand the true nuance! Like funding structures governance is not as black and white as we’ve tried to make it.

[Katie Zaback (she/her/hers) @ZabackConnects]

@KimHunterReed Thanks Kim! Looking to you guys for lessons.

[Katie Zaback (she/her/hers) @ZabackConnects]

I know my community is hurting from the fact that we will all be impacted by school consolidations. I also think @joelnewton is right. It hurts more now because we are 20 years overdue.

[Joel Newton @joelnewton]

When Jeffco votes on elementary school closures, they will take one vote on the full slate of recommended schools to close. If they voted on each school individually, it would allow school communities with privilege to use that structural power to save their schools.

[Katie Zaback (she/her/hers) @ZabackConnects]

@garrettbucks Technically it is this simple, we don't need to get all wonky about it.

[Katie Zaback (she/her/hers) @ZabackConnects]

@garrettbucks My higher ed policy feed has lots of comments on this policy today but I have to say this one is my favorite.

[Katie Zaback (she/her/hers) @ZabackConnects]

@danbbaer Congrats Dan, they are lucky to have your leadership and all of us will get to benefit from the outcomes!
