Talafreako is, as usual, lying, and his “Christian” skin suit is wearing thin.
The Southern Baptist Convention was never pro-choice. Prior to 1970, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) had no official position on abortion. Because the practice was already restricted by state laws, the denomination paid little attention to it. However, in 1971two years before Roe v. Wade—the SBC passed a resolution supporting the legalization of abortion in cases of rape, incest, fetal deformity, and clear evidence of severe fetal deformity, and carefully ascertained evidence of the likelihood of damage to the emotional, mental, and physical health of the mother.
In 1977, the SBC passed a resolution against abortion for selfish non-therapeutic reasons, I.e. birth control.
In 1980 the SBC passed a resolution stating: Whereas all medical evidence indicates that abortion ends the life of a developing human being, and our national laws permit a policy commonly referred to as "abortion on demand,"
Be it therefore RESOLVED, That the Southern Baptist Convention reaffirm the view of the Scriptures of the sacredness and dignity of all human life, born and unborn, and
Be it further RESOLVED, That opposition be expressed toward all policies that allow "abortion on demand," and that we abhor the use of tax money or public, tax-supported medical facilities for selfish, non-therapeutic abortion, and that we favor appropriate legislation and/or a constitutional amendment prohibiting abortion except to save the life of the mother.
A deep dive into his “the Bible is silent on abortion” lie:
The below directly states that causing the death of an unborn child is a capital offense.
Exodus explains causing the death of an unborn child is a capital offense. (The parenthesis are mine to explain and emphasize that part.)
Exodus 21:22-23
“If men struggle with each other and strike a woman with child so that she gives birth prematurely, yet there is no injury (woman and child are okay), he shall surely be fined as the woman’s husband may demand of him, and he shall pay as the judges decide. But if there is any further injury (the child or woman die or are injured), then you shall appoint as a penalty life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise.”
This verse is explicit in that if further harm results, i.e. the woman or child dies, it is a life for a life. Intentional abortion is murder.
God is clear about innocent human life.
Matthew 18:10
“See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.”
Matthew 18:14
“So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.”
Jeremiah 1:5
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart".
Psalm 127:3-5
“Behold, children are a gift of the LORD,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth.
How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them;”
Judges 13:3–5
An angel announces that Samson will be a Nazirite "from the womb," indicating a pre-birth calling.
Luke 1:41–44
In the New Testament, John the Baptist "leaped for joy" in Elizabeth’s womb when Mary (pregnant with Jesus) arrived.
This is why our Declaration of Independence declares us to be endowed by our Creator with unalienable rights which include the right to life. Even if you are an atheist, you can’t justify the taking of innocent life without due process. It is unethical. That should extend to all life, including unborn, conceived, living humans.
Talarico is not a Christian. He uses Christianity as a prop. He is an unrepentant charlatan and heretic.
