@rohanpaul_ai Typical Silicon Valley bravado — a bit of chest-beating dressed up as insight!
It's not an “old people" issue it’s outdated mental models.
Experience still matters.
Wisdom from experience + be agile + be adaptable - That has always been the advice!!!
I’m incredibly proud of my friend @QasimKhanSuri. A former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, he has endured immense personal sacrifice and hardship, yet today he drives an Uber in the United States with unwavering dignity and self-respect. By choosing to earn an honest, halal living through sheer hard work—rather than compromising his principles for comfort in exile—he embodies true resilience, character, and honor. This is what integrity looks like when tested by adversity.
One of @ImranKhanPTI’s greatest legacies is the elevation of middle-class leaders who remained rooted in their values and refused to become part of the elite corruption machine that has hollowed out our politics for decades. Despite relentless pressure and manufactured crises, the PTI government stands among the most transparent administrations in our nation’s history. Yes, when the storm came, a handful of opportunists abandoned the Captain to safeguard their ill-gotten gains, but history will remember them as the exception, not the rule.
The real heroes are the tens of thousands of PTI workers who have faced arrests, intimidation, financial loss, and brutal intimidation, without wavering in their convictions. Today, almost every family carries a story of quiet courage and sacrifice, stories that echo the moral fortitude and suffering of earlier generations during Partition. These lived truths will not fade; they will be told, remembered, and passed down as inspiration for generations yet unborn.
As Allama Iqbal reminded us:
افراد کے ہاتھوں میں ہے اقوام کی تقدیر
ہر فرد ہے ملت کے مقدر کا ستارہ
To all who continue to stand firm: Your dignity in adversity is your greatest strength. History bends in favor of those who refuse to surrender their conscience. Through honesty, perseverance, and faith, we will endure, and Inshallah we will prevail. 🇵🇰

You’re doing exactly the same thing. The illusion of “thinking” is just that… an illusion. What you call thoughts are nothing more than the constant inference of internalized patterns, updated over time through exposure, feedback, and reinforcement.
Large language models don’t “pretend” to think. They do what you do: infer. In your case, it just feels like something.
What you mistake for profound human uniqueness might simply be the byproduct of a particularly sophisticated pattern engine running on wetware.
Several folks reached out to me about this Apple paper on reasoning models.
I have been saying this for the last 2.5 years: language models don't think, and they don't solve problems.
They print sequences of words that make a *human reader believe* that there's a thinking or problem-solving process that resulted in this sequence. 👈 Read this again, pay attention to the words between the asterisks.
That's because our brain fools us into thinking that a sequence of words represents the thought process of a person who wrote this sequence. We are anthropomorphizing texts; that's part of human evolution first in a speaking and then reading society.
Sometimes a sequence generated by an LM can indeed give a human reader an idea that might help in solving a real problem. And the larger the model, the higher the chance that this might happen.
But this chance is far from 100% and for LMs will never become 100%.
Deeply saddened by the shocking news of the passing of dear friend Graham Thorpe... He was a gentleman to the core, a very genuinely honest, passionate guy and the best left-handed batter I bowled to. He will be sorely missed by all cricket fraternity and beyond. I wish strength and sincere prayers for his family.
TacticAI is an AI system that can advise football coaches on tactics & plays https://t.co/ghSizpW5iQ This was a really fun project to work on in collaboration with my much loved Liverpool FC @LFC - fingers crossed we win the league this year to give Klopp a fitting send off!
@yanisvaroufakis - Just reading your wonderful book - "Talking to My Daughter About the economy", you mention workers in Mesopotamia were paid in "Shells engraved with numbers", I can't find much info on this in this period (& you don't provide refs list either) can you help?
If you have a certain combination of naïveté and self-delusion, you might think that superhuman AI is just around the corner.
It wasn't true in 2016.
And it's still not true today.
If you have a bit of a superiority complex, you might think that you will be the one producing superhuman AI and that everyone else is too stupid to handle it safely.
And you would be wrong.
