All the travel, think-pieces, tumult --- Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey is the biggest cinematic event since Gone With the Wind (1939).

Movies will become to AI entertainment what theatre became to film.

If Nolan's The Odyssey (and any other recent Hollywood hit) is any indication, it shows that people want to see hard earned craft. And the more arduous the work behind a film, the more inclined people are to inconvenience themselves to see it. They will thus travel to the best cinema houses; some cinemas will become better known than others, and screenings will become experiences shaped by human craftsmanship.

Expect fewer films made for theatrical release, but bigger, more labor-intensive productions — the kind of spectacle we saw with Ben-Hur (1959), Cleopatra (1963), and The Lord of the Rings trilogy (2001���2003); more hardcore technology, like Cameron's Avatar series; and more auteur-driven filmmaking, like Villeneuve's Dune films and the kinds of productions we see from A24.

I watched The Odyssey first in 70mm IMAX, then in Dolby. Recommended experience. Although nothing beats the immersion of the IMAX, Dolby was a much more calm viewing.

The whole film was shot in bursts of two and a half minutes. This is one of the greatest movie moments ever and you shouldn’t miss your chance to go see The Odyssey in 70mm IMAX.
