The authorities estimated the number of participants at the protests in Belgrade at 100,000, while the People's Assembly archive put the figure at 300,000.

Commenting on the protests, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said 56 people were injured and 22 detained during the protest on suspicion of vandalism and assault, but no one sustained life-threatening injuries.

He said the protest carried "a huge negative energy, anger and rage directed towards the authorities."

"More than 100 tractors belonging to Serbian farmers were damaged," Vucic said.

The protesters are demanding accountability for the deaths of 15 people in Novi Sad who were killed by falling rubble as the outdoor roof section of a train station caved in on them. The train station had been recently renovated, with the involvement of Chinese companies and businesses with alleged ties to the ruling Progressive Party (SNS).

The key difference btw managed autocracy and oligarchy is that CPC under Xi Jinping does not allow oligarchs to rule the party & the govt. Elsewhere, oligarchs rule the governments, or people come to power, steal money, become rich and thus unify in their own personae political & economic power.
