@noclador And because I didn't make the point strongly. Strategic independence gained if Canada can domestically produce is a factor. Which can be invaluable to an ally. The US was late to wwi amd wwii.

Can the F35 offer the patrol range required? Cost per unit and over term, fleet size realistically affordable, suitability as the 3rd priority in an integrated defense.

Use in deterrence, escalation...or im attrition warfare.
