I had a front row seat to this trauma.
It’s so personal that I can’t/won’t even fully share it to protect my own child.
It will never be ok for the very people who claim to be for kids to continue to refuse to use evidenced based literacy instruction.
You are either using trauma informed best practices, or creating trauma in our kids.
Please be for every kid…they are currently not ok!!

Here is a thread on the most important studies on the topic of dyslexia. If you’re interested in the science of reading because you want to help dyslexic students, a highly recommend you read these studies. 1/6
@sarasfreeman123 Seems to be a reliance on shaming and blaming others rather than supporting solutions that have the money to help kids, teachers and frankly our whole society.
@sarasfreeman123 He’s using SoR lingo to get an audience. 😂 He doesn’t understand it. Can’t believe he’s still talking. We saw him speak to the WBWF in Edina, 5-6 years ago. Now they follow the science and are bragging on the data.
Great paper on reading instruction in the @nytimes !
Actually the science of reading has been known for years— and isn’t that costly or complex to implement.

@ohjoys @sarasfreeman123 We can! And many anti racists liberal democrats love the science of reading, because…science! Evidence that it works better, so actually teaches reading!
@ByrneDrdbyrne @ehanford Parents and kids are the problem? We are the problem. It’s us! 😂 We did it all and our kid still wasn’t learning to read at her school. Turns out all the families with $ hire OG tutors to teach reading. Stop blaming kids and families. It is the job of schools to teach reading.
@RexChapman Shame that the adults who planned and built that existing playground without including everyone in the plan. Inclusive playgrounds have been around a long time.
