Sean Bowe (@ebfull) and Dev (@zkDragon) recently did a whiteboard session to discuss Zcash's post-quantum roadmap: recoverability very soon, using PIR w/ the Tachyon upgrade to achieve full PQ privacy, and setting the stage for PQ soundness alongside major scale improvements.
This new paper from Google & Stanford is a paradigm shift in both substance (prior resource estimates for Shor's algorithm for ECDLP shattered) and tone (blockchains must urgently migrate starting NOW).
Let's break it down👇

1/4 New Zodl update is here.
This one’s about making the things you already use work better.
Smarter swaps. A more polished, consistent experience across iOS and Android.
Here’s what’s new.🧵⬇️
Some bitcoin maxis are saying, in effect, ignore this and listen to Saylor.
For real, I would be concerned if all my crypto eggs were in the metaphorical BTC basket.
#Zcash is quantum resistant now and AFAIK the dev team has identified quantum computing issues as a priority.
2029 is three years away and most blockchain cryptography isn't quantum-safe. the chains that start building post-quantum infrastructure now survive contact with the threat. zcash's dev team is already working on pqc - the same engineering depth that shipped zero-knowledge proofs in production years before anyone else. the window to migrate is closing faster than the industry realizes.
@ChShersh I started with 5.5 and upgraded to 7.0 Professional. Loved (and still like) Borland Pascal.
Plus, the documentation was awesome, every method had example source on how to use it.

Accepting Zcash on your store isn't just adding a payment method.
It's a statement.
A statement that your customers deserve financial privacy. That what they buy, when they buy it, and how much they spend is nobody's business but theirs.
Every merchant who integrates CipherPay is choosing a side. The side that says privacy isn't a feature, it's a right.
Make the statement. Accept private payments.
patrick volkerding's response is what principled engineering looks like. "i'd rather not implement something like this" from the creator of the oldest active linux distribution carries weight. while fedora discusses adopting apple's verification api, slackware's answer is quiet refusal. the distros that say no are drawing the line the foundations won't.
