You know what is absolutely empowering? Understanding the concept of Rizq. What is yours must eventually come to you and what isn’t, shall never no matter your efforts. That doesn’t mean don’t put in the effort. Do it with the clear belief that if it’s meant to be, it shall be.
deal with what they’ve been served. Zamil is unable to see what he is doing - he is acting purely on impulse ruining everything in his wake as is Zaryab - except she has AB to perhaps, show her kindness she isn’t accustomed to. KB’s story will be crucial for AB too /2 #DarENijat
I needed time to post about #DarENijat. Probably the most triggering show atm. But what beautiful writing, characters and performances! Everyone. Except Zamil’s daari are doing a fantastic job. Both Zaryab and Humna are girls to whom ‘circumstances’ happened requiring them to 1/
@SophiaAQ@UzmaRS I think the biggest misconception is that he is not real. There are men like him. They may be few. But they do exist. Plus - what do we know of his flaws, yet? Everyone has flaws. We just have not been shown his. Maybe patience and being kind is his virtue but anger, a flaw 🤷🏻♀️
@Pixiedust941 It could be that she has developed an attachment style or it could simply be that she loved deeply him for too long - it became a habit. Now, what she is going through are withdrawal like symptoms
I never liked Kareena as an actor when she first started…but my admiration for her has grown over time…the kind of work she chooses to do and the variety of work she has done is commendable #Kareena#Bollywood
I read posts like those from #Macklemore and it makes me wonder what it will take for stars/celebs who have earned billions and could afford not working a day more to speak and use the medium for good.
-use her willingly given trust to make himself feel secure, to insult and malign her character
-attack her inherent goodness with his new found ‘superior religiosity’
-make her feel worthless by telling her no good man will want her because of how she is. #DarENijaat
#DarENijaat Things Zamil did which many men do. A thread.
-ran away instead of telling her the truth leaving her to deal with another man, and to her own devices.
-used her love and trust to paper over his own deep set insecurities 1/
-make her feel worthless because he knew that he wasn’t good for her
- used religion to make himself feel superior and her inferior
-ghosted her knowing it will drive her to madness
-tell her he loves her but cannot be with her. A different spin on the it’s me not you 2/
I don’t think I’ve seen this much discourse around a drama recently as I have wrt #DarENijaat. Take a bow @UmeraAhmedOffic. Zamil is the most interesting male character I’ve seen in recent times. He says he still loves her and yet, belittles her using new found religiosity.
Sigh. Art since forever is used to raise questions and poke holes in societal norms, to hold up a mirror, to make the audience think. That is what Umera Ahmed is doing. It makes us uncomfortable to see that because we identify with it + don’t want to confront our demons/trauma
I disagree.
Umera Ahmed is a good writer, and perhaps that’s precisely why Dar-e-Nijat is making people this uncomfortable. These characters and situations are not some far-fetched invention, they reflect realities that exist around us.
A writer doesn’t owe us only پاکباز heroines and morally acceptable heroes. Good storytelling also explores deeply flawed people, bad choices and uncomfortable truths. Showing a character’s moral failure is not the same as glorifying it.
We can dislike the characters and condemn their actions, but calling the writer “جاہل” simply for writing them misses the point of fiction altogether.
@uzmaaar But that’s because there are people like Zamil. Not just in today’s generation. In generations before him too. And even if they don’t show this, there still will be people like him. So at least showing it is exposing the hypocrisy which needs to be addressed by the ummah
@SophiaAQ@tomtomatoe Even if he doesn’t have a backstory - there will be moments in this show where he will go through his own tests. The revelation of his mother’s past. The fact that zaryab is using him to anger zamil, the revelation of his father. All these will test his perfect composure
