How is liver metabolism linked to diabetes type 2?🧬
This year’s conference spotlights the connection between diabetes and liver health. The rising global incidence of fatty liver disease – and its role in the onset and progression of diabetes – makes this a critical area of research.
💡 Prof. Anja Zeigerer is co-host of the conference and researcher at #HelmholtzMunich and the Medical Faculty of Heidelberg University. Her research focuses on liver metabolism – uncovering how nutrient transport at the molecular level drives metabolic diseases like diabetes and obesity.

Very excited to share with you our new website at the ECAS at the Medical Faculty Mannheim at the University of Heidelberg. Super exciting setting up a new lab. https://t.co/LmxDCnDEQU
Happy to share that I have joined the Medical Faculty of Mannheim at Heidelberg University as full professor starting this month. Looking forward to new challenges and interactions. Thanks to everybody, especially my group, friends and colleagues! @helmholtz_diabc@ZeigererLab
New posting! This has some reflections on the scandal at the 2023 Lindau Nobel Laureate meeting, where a Laureate complained of being discriminated against as a white man. Unusually, a courageous young scientist actually called him out on it. #WomenInSTEM

Great fun at the mitochondria and bioenergetics workshop in Brazil together with my dear colleagues from the Rohm lab @RohmMaria from @helmholtz_diabc. Thanks for having us @luiz_leiria!
Our I Workshop Sao Paulo-Bavaria on Bioenergetics and Metabolsim was more than awesome, it was a very special time of great science and friendship! Unforgetable! Thanks @MoriLabe@ZeigererLab@AJKowaltowski@RohmMaria@BarteltLab. See you next year in Munich!
Happy to share the final version of this paper!
We found mechanisms that make receptor signalling dependent on membrane lipids and specific nanodomains. EGFR signaling becomes cholesterol, flotillin, and c-Src dependent when HER2 is co-expressed.
