Three years ago I started building a place where people could talk about what's actually happening where they live. Their town, their ballot, their news. No algorithm deciding what they're allowed to see.

Wednesday I open the doors.

WED SEPT 2. 8PM ET. ONE HOUR.

The format is simple. Everybody shows up at the same time, so nobody walks into an empty room. Then we run a Nectar Hunt, which is an Easter egg hunt without the confusing rabbits. Ten small things to go find and try, and you post about each one as you go.

Whoever finishes the most wins a lifetime membership at the top tier. There's something for second and third too.

It's a beta. It'll be rough in places. That's the point of doing it with a room full of people instead of alone.

When I was a kid the measles came round. The whole town had measles pajama parties, one of which I went to. Nobody died. Nobody went to hospital. I never caught it but 20 years later a hospital I worked for requested that I get a measles titre after I refused a measles jab. Turns out I'm immune.
