@RR_Cotter @PhDVoice @thephdstory @PhDForum As a full professor now going thru divorce, I’d say pick a name you’re cool with. In retrospect I wish I’d stick w my maiden name, but who’d have guessed at the time? Maybe pick the more unique name to reduce misattribution of articles!

@dmariemart Glad to know I’m not the only one. Some days it seems there’s a fine line bw “crazy prepper” and “planning strategic exit before borders close and we’re left holding the bag.”

But if it’s Trump win 2024, I am OUT the door. Panama here I come!

Question: at what point in #DemocracyCollapse do “avg” Americans start planning a strategic exit to avoid fascism?

Spouse and I were discussing those who left Germany in early 1930s, for ex. How did they decide “this is getting way bad” & leave before war/border closure?

I’m not saying we’re at imminent collapse just yet…but what calculus should be involved to decide when to emigrate on out of here, so one is not left holding the bag while Q-ers, racists, anti-women groups, etc run the show by force?

Nothing about the university, the students, the local town, or even departmental relations or P&T guidelines. Were they just nervous? Maybe. But then bring a pre-written list of things to ask about.

Sigh. I’ve developed a post-pandemic vocal tic. After 18mo only talking to hubby and son, I had started inserting “Honey” into conversation - as in “Oh Honey, that’s a great Lego spaceship!” “Honey, can u get my laptop?”

2x this month I have “Oh Honey”-ed colleagues. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Also Uni: non TT instructional asst profs will be offered $25k less than TT, denied travel funds and denied prof dev $.
