Villages are gone. Families are waiting. Hundreds are still missing.

A sudden flood tore through Rasuwa this morning along the Bhote Koshi. Timure, Syabrubesi and Rasuwagadhi were among the first areas hit. Homes, bridges, customs posts and power projects were washed away. Rescue teams are still searching, while helicopters cannot land in the worst affected areas.

The toll continues to rise. Dozens are confirmed dead, while hundreds remain unaccounted for, including local families, security personnel, hydropower workers and more than 400 travellers. Indian pilgrims and tourists are among the largest groups of missing foreigners, many travelling on the Kailash route. Families are calling numbers that go unanswered.

This is a humanitarian emergency that does not stop at the border. The same river flows through Nepal and onward towards India. People on both sides of the Himalaya are affected. Neighbours must act as neighbours.

India has offered humanitarian assistance and opened embassy helplines. That is a start. More is needed now.

The rest of us can help by sharing only verified updates, supporting official relief efforts through the Nepal Red Cross, government disaster funds and recognised organisations on the ground, and urging governments in India, China and across the region to keep rescue teams, medical aid, food, shelter and search aircraft moving without delay.

These are our neighbours. These are our pilgrims. These are people who lost everything in a few hours.
