Social media is breeding a very dangerous type of person en masse, and it’s the type of person who is truly unintelligent, lacks any real comprehension, refuses to see nuance or apply context clues to any situation, but will speak with authority on things they don’t understand.
The International Stigma Conference organised in Leipzig is my favorite thing this month.
Lots of great research work and sharing on how we can all combat Stigma towards mental illness.

🎉 Thrilled to share my new research paper:
“Mental health knowledge, stigma & help-seeking among adolescents in Kampala, Uganda” published
We surveyed 889 secondary school students to explore what young people know, feel, and do about mental health.

Key findings:
• Knowledge gaps: while depression & anxiety were widely recognised, only 35.7% identified schizophrenia as a mental illness; over half said “don’t know.”
• Stigma persists: ~50.6% reluctant to live with someone with mental illness

I'm happy to announce this new paper — we compile evidence on the extraordinary harms caused by IMF and World Bank structural adjustment programmes in the global South since the 1980s.
The empirical record is devastating: documented negative impacts on wages, poverty, inequality, maternal mortality, infant mortality, healthcare access, etc.
SAPs inflicted misery on the periphery in order to curtail their consumption, scupper independent development, and make labour and resources more cheaply available for the core.

As a guy who smokes copious amounts of weed, I think one of the most damaging things weed smokers can do for it's public perception is pretend it has zero negative effects
Inspiring talks from Dr. Thara Rangaswamy’s pioneering schizophrenia work in India, the M(H)IND Project in South Sudan. Glad to present my poster on adolescent mental health knowledge, stigma & help-seeking in schools in Uganda 🇺🇬. #StigmaReduction
Last week i attended the #IFPE2025 in Trento 🇮🇹—an inspiring gathering on “Improving Global Mental Health: From Epidemiological Research to Practice.” Grateful to learn about work & research advancing mental health across diverse contexts. #GlobalMentalHealth#PublicHealth

A study on students sleep patterns in two schools in Entebbe found that students in boarding schools tended to have a sleep durations at 4.2 hours.
This is insane. Unacceptable. https://t.co/bqPmC4osY6
