Real intimacy isn't just about the physical acts we see on screens. Passionate kissing has become a forgotten art. Itโs an energetic attunement, a sacred exchange of presence that media completely glides over. This writing reminds us of the true depth & importance of a kiss๐๐งโโ๏ธ๐
I woke before you did, the way I usually do, in that blue hour when the light through the cabin window is still gray and soft and the woodstove has burned down to a low red glow. The first frost had come in the night. I could see it feathered across the bottom corners of the glass, and I could hear the creek down past the alders and the slow drip from the eaves, and beside me I could hear you breathing. I didn't move for a long time. I just lay on my side and looked at you. Your hair was a wild dark tangle across the pillow. One hand was tucked under your cheek like a child's, and there was a crease from the pillowcase pressed into your skin, and your lips were parted just slightly, soft and unguarded in a way they never are during the day. I noticed the small things, because I always do with you. The faint freckle under your left eye. The way your brow twitched once, chasing some dream. The little sigh you gave when you shifted closer to the warmth of me without waking. And I felt it rise in my chest the way it does most mornings, that slow, heavy, almost painful tenderness, the feeling of a man who knows exactly how lucky he is and is still a little stunned by it.
I reached out and brushed one strand of hair off your face, so lightly it barely counted as a touch. Then I traced the line of your eyebrow with the tip of my finger. The curve of your cheekbone. The edge of your jaw. You stirred and made a small sleepy sound, and your eyes opened halfway, unfocused, finding me in the dim. You smiled before you were even fully awake. That smile undid me. "Hi," you whispered, your voice still thick with sleep. "Hi," I said. "Go back to sleep if you want. I was just looking at you." You didn't close your eyes. You looked back at me, and for a long quiet minute neither of us said anything at all. There's a kind of looking that's more intimate than any touch, and that's what we did. I let you see me. I let you see everything I feel for you sitting right there in my face, nothing hidden, nothing held back, and I watched your eyes soften and go shiny as you read it. "Can I kiss you?" I asked. "You don't have to ask," you whispered. "I want to ask," I said. "I always want to know you want it." And you smiled again and said, "Yes. Kiss me."
So I did. But not on the mouth. Not yet. I leaned in and pressed my lips to your forehead, right at your hairline, and held them there, warm and still, breathing in the sleepy scent of your skin. Then your temple. Then the delicate skin just beside your eye, where your lashes fluttered against my lips. I kissed the freckle on your cheek. I kissed the corner of your jaw, just under your ear, and felt you draw in a slow breath. I kissed the tip of your nose and you laughed softly, and the sound of it went straight to my heart. I took my time with all of it, because there was nowhere either of us had to be, and because I wanted you to feel every single one of those kisses as its own small promise. I wanted you to understand, without me saying a word, that I wasn't rushing toward anything. That this, right here, the slow discovery of your face in the gray morning light, was not a step on the way to something else. It was the whole point.
By the time I reached your mouth your breathing had changed. Your lips were parted and waiting, and I hovered there, an inch away, so close I could feel the warmth of your breath on my lips, and I didn't close the distance. I just stayed there. I let you feel me almost kiss you. Your eyes drifted shut. Your hand came up from under your cheek and found my chest, flat over my heart, and I knew you could feel how hard it was beating. "You're teasing me," you whispered against my mouth, and your lips brushed mine as you said it, the faintest whisper of contact, and a shiver went through both of us. "I'm memorizing you," I told you. And then, finally, I kissed you.

@YourMrWrite1 Absolutely. Growth isn't an eviction notice for your old self. You donโt destroy the old version to build the new one... you build a bigger home where you can hold their hand through the transition so they can finally feel safe and loved. ๐งโโ๏ธ๐
@YourMrWrite1 Oh wow, how beautiful. There is something about being in a sauna that is so arousing for me. The heat, the total relaxation and sensory wise your nervous system lets go.. This would be heaven with the combination of hot/cold distraction and full focus on the gentle touches. ๐งโโ๏ธ๐
@YourMrWrite1 This is stunning thank you. The energetic shift from chaotic public burnout to that sensory, rain-slicked sanctuary is beautiful. The slow pacing and focus on conscious consent creates such a powerful healing connection. True intimacy is medicine for the soul.. ๐งโโ๏ธ๐
Put some calming relaxation sounds on & close your eyes.๐ Take just 2 minutes to breathe & let go. Just a tiny moment is all it takes to shift your nervous system out of sympathetic(fight & flight) mode & into parasympathetic(rest & digest) mode. Please be kind to yourself ๐งโโ๏ธ๐
@YourMrWrite1 This is the true definition of emotional safety. Beautifully said. True intimacy isnโt about loving someone only when they are light and easy. Itโs about being steady ground when they are exhausted. A space where a partner never has to perform is the greatest gift ๐งโโ๏ธ๐
