@Michelle_in_ON@Acyn@Anthony52373483 We are afraid that he won’t . Our elected representatives have the power to make sure this won’t happen but the Republicans in office will not- or at least so far have not shown us that they will.
"Living with cancer is not the same as surviving cancer. It’s a distinction that needs to be acknowledged and understood, and research needs to reflect this reality." - Jill Feldman

Three years ago today, I had absolutely no idea what had just hit me. Stage 4 ALK Positive Lung Cancer at just 35 years of age? What on earth was that? Even now, I’m not sure I have better answers. I’ve learned to navigate this so-called “new normal,” but lets be honest—it’s anything but normal. And I will never get used to it.
In the cancer community, we often mark our ‘cancerversaries’. Not because they’re something to celebrate really, but because they are a moment to acknowledge the fire we’ve walked through—another year of surviving, enduring, and fighting the unimaginable.
Yes, I’m still here. Not because it’s been easy, but because survival often isn’t a choice—it’s just what we do. Antidepressants have helped me cope, my mother’s relentless determination (and defiance of all odds) has kept me going, and research has quite literally kept me alive.
But the reality is terrifying: global funding cuts threaten the very studies that people like me rely on, and here in India, there’s virtually no research dedicated to my type of cancer.
So, while I appreciate your kind words, I don’t need to be told I’m an inspiration or that I’m brave—I already know that. What I need—what we all need—is action. Not empty words, not fleeting sympathy. Real, tangible action.
Cancer isn’t just a statistic. It’s in our homes, our families, our lives. And if we don’t fight for more research, more funding, and more urgency, the reality is undeniable: it will keep tearing through more lives, more households, until we have nowhere left to turn.
We don’t have time for complacency. We don’t have time for ignorance. The situation is dire, and it’s only going to get much worse unless we demand better.
Special mention for my doctor @docrohatgi. Meeting an oncologist is never on anyone’s wish list but he’s one I don’t mind meeting now, especially if it’s outside his clinic 😊
