Art Deco understood that even a factory could make an architectural statement.

London’s Hoover Building, designed by Wallis, Gilbert & Partners and opened in 1933, was built as the British headquarters and factory of the Hoover Company.

Originally constructed as a manufacturing plant and offices for the Hoover Company, it was used to produce aircraft parts during World War II.

Later, it served as a supermarket and office space, and has since been converted into residential apartments.

Its monumental cream façade, towering piers, emerald-green steel windows and vivid orange detailing give it an almost theatrical design.

Look closely at the entrance: it is framed by massive, multi-faceted concrete columns adorned with red geometric accents.

Dominating the space above the open glass double doors is a massive, fan-shaped window motif resembling a stylized sunburst or wheat cluster, which alternates between emerald-green panes and bold panels of navy blue and bright red.

It almost looks as if you are entering a temple.

There was a commercial purpose behind the spectacle.

In the 1930s, a striking factory could advertise a brand to thousands passing along Western Avenue.

Hoover made its industrial identity impossible to ignore.

I am completely serious when I say people who drive like this should get the death penalty. This isnt just "It got away from me and I did 100 once in my life. These kids do 130 weaving on purpose and end up paralyzing 2 kids, or something.

Like all attempted murder should, you just remove these threats from society **before** they can successfully ruin innocent people's lives.
