Great analysis.
Subtle disagreement, but consequential. Here goes . .
We have to vote the ANC back into power with a clear majority. But we must not stop there.
1. Blacks must raise consciousness around true (participatory) democracy and not relegate participation to just voting and hoping for the best.
2. Activism must not be the burning of tires. Participation must mean taking responsibility by getting involved at branch levels of the ANC. Yes! Become a member and get the ANC membership to grow a few folds. Change the beast from its belly.
3. Use this infiltration to root out criminals and to support honest servants of the movement. Some will be in active politics and many will be in government departments as professionals, civil servants, driving the delivery agenda and cleaning out house.
4. Buy out the ANC and buy back into the hands of ordinary folk through direct citizens donations - if stokvels are an indication, the ANC coffers can be returned to good standing.
4.1 Prevent and disallow large single donations from individual and from companies.
4.2 Such funding must be accounted for and punishment must befall abusers. It is not officals' money, it is the people's money. Jail thugs that misappropriate funds.
4.3 Incentive performance and dismiss people for poor performance.
5. Use smart technologies to enable closer and active participation of people to hold officials accountable and punishable by not only dismissal but also expropriation of ill-gotten proceeds and assets forfeiture.
5.1 we do not need to wait for 5 years to get rid of poor performers, corrupt, or even suspicious individuals.
5.2 Technology can and should be exploited to allows for swift decision-making and imposition of serious penalties.
Mistakes will happen where wrongful punishment will take place, but this will be in the smallest of minority - the opposit of whatbis happening now.
Additionally, the majority of greedy fools and blatant thugs will be properly forewarned, taken out swiftly and visibly, and the next bloke will be hit harder for coming afterwards and still trying his luck.
Currently, all this is not happening. The horrible and painful oppoait is true.
We need an ANC servant that know he /she will not be worshipped but will be a true servant of the people that will receive no respect except for his/her diligence and demonstrable performance and positive results.
These ideals are achievable, not because they are easy but because they are necessary and will form the greatest boost to the black, especially the African child.
These ideas will be difficult to implement, but no investment was ever easy to make and maintain and double double down until, with time, it becomes evident that success will result.
We cannot expect easy solutions. We cannot as ordinary people expect someone to come and do it while we wait.
Coalition are exactly that - collisions and chaos. We have enough evidence that they do not work for people but work only for the worst politicians, as they allow for payment of salaries for no work done while they dealmake and dealbreak for most of their time in (un)elected political office.
Only an involved and actively participating citizenry will solve our problems as a country.
That participation is not antagonistic participation in thw fringes of politics, but back to the basics of branch level and personal involvement.
We do not have a choice but to get bad individual out of the ANC rather than get the ANC out of government.
Nothing short of or close to a one party state will work. Such governments move at great speed. Examples abound across the globe.
We have the tools. Technology offers swift and transparent communication that are thw foundation of any engaged populace.
The ANC as an organization offers this country everything that we need.
The popular idea that leaders in the ANC are the ANC needs to be crushed and eradicated. But the ANC is and should definitely be an independent entity.
Faith Mangope To ANCYL: Focus, Stop Obsessing With Julius Malema, Show Us What You Got
“Don’t bring Julius into ANCYL conversation… I never asked about Julius… ANCYL is who I’m having an interview with… You’re bringing up Julius when we’re supposed to be talking about ANCYL.”
On this day in 1964, South Africa’s🇿🇦 anti-apartheid hero Nelson Mandela begins his 27-year-long jail sentence for his acts of resistance against the apartheid regime which was backed by the US, UK and European countries.
Here he is humbling a US journalist who criticised his alliance and support for Cuba🇨🇺, which had given political and military support to South Africa’s anti-apartheid struggle.
