This is just the beginning.
More than 40,000 refugees have arrived in Luak Dong/Tormorok alone, with an estimated 130,000 new arrivals across Gambela Region.
We are scaling up support to ensure families fleeing conflict receive the assistance they urgently need.
.@WFP and partners have began the food distributions for newly arrived refugees from South Sudan in Ethiopia, reaching around 2,200 people on the first day.
We will continue to assist the new arrivals with life-saving food assistance.
Grateful to meet our field monitors, as we deepen our shared commitment to evidence, accountability & stronger operations.

Mekatet has set clear pathways for refugee inclusion, self-reliance and opportunity. In line with this, @WFP will continue to help refugees to produce more food and build resilience by strengthening livelihoods through climate smart agriculture, among other initiatives.
As I walked through the showcase of the #MekatatRoadmap I was reminded of what is possible when partners come together around a shared vision. Together with @UNHCR, the @WorldBankETH & @RRSEthiopia, @WFP has helped turn the Mekatat framework from policy into practical action.
In Somali Region, @WFP & partners are supporting #refugee women to build stronger, more resilient livelihoods.
By equipping women with the skills & tools to succeed as entrepreneurs, we are investing in brighter futures for families and communities.
In 2025, we supported the Ethiopian government's efforts to reach 5.5 million people across Ethiopia with support that matters. This shows what is possible when strong partnerships come together to deliver at scale.
