@ShawtyBrothers AI failed to work for me because David just seemed to be following his programming and wasn't truly sentient AI, I saw it on release and it had some neat concepts and world-building, but felt overstuffed, with distracting cameos and "special appearances" throughout.
Finally! One of the most influential Japanese films of the 70's (in Japan) is finally getting an official release in North America. This should have been making the arthouse circuit Internationally since its release in 1976, but I'll take what I can get.
UK/US: Making his first appearance for Kon Ichikawa, iconic fictional detective Kosuke Kindaichi investigates family fortune and mysterious murders in THE INUGAMI FAMILY.
This 4K restoration comes with a new interview with Japanese film historian Aaron Gerow.
Here's a cool promo poster for the Japanese short FANTAZONE 1990, featuring Takayuki Takeya's Vampu. It's a really cool stop motion animated short, which I believe Keita Amemiya directed.
@1jcmaxwell The movie is fine, but Disney's overbearing marketing is exhausting. I think less people would have an issue with the movie if Disney wasn't trying so hard to sell it. Btw I give big ups to Favreau and Filoni for having Tippett do some real, honest-to-god stop motion in this film
@KevinLamb74 Laughing at Admiral Motti's "This station is now the ultimate power in the universe" isn't laughing at the line itself, it's laughing at his hubris, because this audience was aware that Vader immediately puts his hubris in-check, and the ultimate fate of the Death Star itself.
@KevinLamb74 Laughing at Luke's "Toschi Station" line is fine, because he's a whiny teen-ager at this point in the story, and it's a funny contrast to Luke's character ultimate character arc, both by the end of the film and through Empire and Jedi (that this audience is well familiar with).
We are saddened to hear of the passing of Yuji Ohno.
A legendary musician who was the heart & soul of most of the music of Lupin the Third for nearly 50 years will certainly live on as his music & themes will continue to be synonymous with the famous thief.
@tacnetlaurent@RetroReminiscer British tax credit. The smaller roles and extras were filled by American and Canadian expats or British actors that could pass for American so the film could qualify for a British tax credit for filming in the UK.
@BoristSpider@RetroReminiscer@CoolComicArt Joker's coat? Yeah. It's in the scene where he kills Grissom, it's just hard to notice the purple splotches because the scene is lit so darkly.
Sanyo,1988, filmed in Houston and featuring music by Jean-Michel Jarre.
And it is like a mini-movie showcasing the style and ethos of this era.
The music is masterful…
@LoganGarrettBu1@robertliefeld Based on recent reports, it sounds like it was completely Bob Iger's call before his retirement, and Marvel + Feige were not happy with the visual development team being decimated, but we're powerless to do anything.
Sam Kieth,my old friend since 16 and comic art genius has passed away.
He was instrumental in bringing me to DC and changing the course of my career. He also introduced me to my wife ( a cute little blond he described her as)and changed the course of my life
God rest his soul.
