New GTA 6 map details (previews):

- Once you unlock free roam after some missions, you can go anywhere on the map without barriers or restrictions
- The map is an island (Leonida) and doesn’t have a panhandle
- It’s 2x the size of GTA5 and 3x the playable area of RDR2
- Vice City is double the size of Los Santos
- The built-up area outside Vice City is 11 times bigger than the built-up area outside Los Santos
- The map is dense, with 5 counties and approximately 10 cities/towns
- There are multiple islands, and underwater exploration will feature diving equipment, shipwrecks and treasures
- The map in the pause menu is very detailed with satellite 3D imagery
- It helps you to plan a heist, as it shows buildings, gang bases, stores…etc in 3D, the loot value and the entry and exit
- When the map is zoomed out, you only see the main roads and highways, but the more you zoom in, more roads and alleys appear
- Rockstar’s goal is to make as many enterable buildings (there are hundreds of interiors)
- Areas on the map won’t be fully visible until you explore them (fog of war)
- There are many ways to fast travel around the map using public transport such as buses, trains, taxis, RydeMe app (Uber), Metromover and you can either skip the trip or talk with passenger NPCs and have full conversations or listen to the radio
- You can buy as many garages around the map but you can’t buy safe houses (Jason & Lucia’s house changes throughout the story because they’re on the run)
- Mission waypoints on the map are pink, custom ones are cyan
-Mount Kalaga located in the northern part is the highest point in the map
- You’ll be able to see heat areas on the map (an area where you committed a crime before and police will be on the lookout for you there for some time, as they actually setup a perimeter around the crime scene)
- There heat area is red and there’s an even larger area around it in lighter red
-At 6 stars, the heat area becomes map-wide
- Any building with a helipad on top will be enterable and you can explore its interior, go up either by stairs or using the elevator to reach the top floor without loading screens
