You’ve used Arimi’s almost your whole life but do you even know who owns it? 👀
For 38+ years, this mafuta ya kukamua ng’ombe has quietly lived in Kenyan homes.
Originally made for cows somehow it ended up on lips, skin and let’s be honest other uses we don’t talk about 😂
At some point, Arimi’s stopped being a dairy product and became a lifestyle essential.
If we’re being real, some handbags aren’t complete without it.
But here’s the part most people don’t know:
Arimi’s was founded in 1983 by Hanish Shah a Kenyan of Indian descent who wasn’t even in manufacturing at first. Man ran a boutique before this.
The idea came from working with German companies then boom a product meant for farmers in Meru.
Fun fact: “Arimi” literally means farmer in the Meru dialect.
By 1985, demand had grown so much he had to move operations to Nairobi. From there, it spread across the whole country.
And while other brands came with “advanced formulas” and strong smells Arimi’s kept it simple:
just petrolatum + colour.
Cheap. Effective. No nonsense. That’s why it survived.
Then in 2021, someone tried to redesign the packaging and Kenyans said NO
People are so attached to that Friesian cow logo, the brand had to come out and shut down rebranding rumors immediately.
Now be honest…
What’s the real reason YOU use Arimi’s?
