The 73-win Warriors entered the Finals as the winningest team in NBA history, while Cleveland carried a 52-year championship drought.
On this day in 2016, Cleveland completed the first 3-1 comeback in NBA Finals history, winning three straight to capture its first championship 🏆
If the Cavaliers lose in 4 or 5, they'll become the 4th conference finalist this century with a losing playoff record.
But the silver lining is what happened with the 3 previous teams:
- '24 Pacers—made the finals in '25
- '20 Nuggets—won in '23
- '03 Pistons—won in '04
Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd has agreed to a new deal with the school, he announced. Arizona’s new five-year deal with Lloyd will make him one of the five highest paid coaches in college basketball, per me and @jeffborzello.
Arizona AD Desiree Reed-Francois tells me the following regarding Tommy Lloyd’s future with the Wildcats:
“Tommy has done a phenomenal job. He’s one of the best coaches in America. We have been engaged with his representatives about a new contract since before the start of the NCAA Tournament. Those discussions will continue and it is our goal that he retires as a Wildcat.”
