The penny costs over 3 cents to make and cost US taxpayers over $179 million in FY2023.
The Mint produced over 4.5 billion pennies in FY2023, around 40% of the 11.4 billion coins for circulation produced.
Penny (or 3 cents!) for your thoughts.

I'm no one. I have no friends, no worldly connections, I have a normal job, the only relationships I have are with my wife and children. My hobby is study bible. If I wasn't posting my thoughts here I would still be recording them in a private journal. I don't care about clothes, cars, money, fancy trips, luxury, or anything like that. I've had those things, they are devoid of any meaning. The only real joy I receive is from my relationship with God or family. I don't have any grand worldly aspirations for power, prestige or other. So long as I can provide for my wife and children with all they need and desire (within reason) I am content. I am not the one providing, God is, and he does a better job than I ever could.
Our Father, which art in Heaven
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy Kingdom Come.
Thy will be Done in Earth,
As it is in Heaven.
Give us this Day our Daily Bread.
And Forgive us our Trespasses
As we Forgive those that Trespass against us.
Lead us not into Temptation
Deliver us from evil.
For thine is the KINGDOM
The POWER
The GLORY
For ever and ever.
AMEN.
She administers my morphine. And gives me a sleeping pill. Then tells me to drink water and turns out my light. It's 930pm.. what?!?! What is this? Ok. I'm still out of it... but I'm filling my water bottles from the tap and trying to listen to orders.
I NEED LEGAL HELP. Thread
From 11-9 to 11-12 I was violently sick. Vomiting blood and anything I tried, even @pedialyte. Nothing worked. I was beyond dehydrated and in excruciating pain. 11-12 morning, went to ER, instantly seen and given morphine and liquids. Pain 10+ for me.
They took me for whatever they needed. Before too long noticing the actual severity of my complications correlated with test results and blood work. It was time that I got admitted to another hospital for care, as this was just the ER. A man came in and spoke to me about help.
She disconnected my life support fluids. MY WHOLE REASON BEING HERE. Mocked me, had me take my own temperature and was overall a very contrast of what I had for care. She clearly didn't want to be here. She didn't want to change my beeping bag all night either.. it gets worse.
I was admitted with severe dehydration and kidney failure. The doctor didn't want to put me on dialysis right away, hoping we could treat and mend the organ over the next few days. 9pm night shift, everything does a 180° turn to BAD. The registered nurse was a floor filler only.
After hours of waiting for an ambulance ride, I arrived to my new location. The first 2 days were amazing. The people on staff were very caring and I was overjoyed to have this experience in my time of absolute surrender and vulnerability. Hospitality was radiant until 11-15
"You need to go where they can take care of you, you will have a room, food, and medicine" was his assurances and the only reason why I agreed. That sounded like care. Altho I had to be taken by ambulance that's an entire different chapter. This is specific about LEGAL NEED.
