Curry Barker was offered $2 million to rewrite ‘OBSESSION’ and have Bear as the hero.
“I’m not rewriting the script to make Bear a guy that does all the right things.”

@TheSeriesFeed idk- ian is a huge jerk, sure, but no amount of "what ifs" can justify bear's actions
besides, every single decision he makes after his wish just shows how little he cared for nikki, he was completely fine w taking advantage of the situation even when he realized what he'd done
OBSESSION SPOILER ALERT!

Did Nikki actually like Bear?
Curry Barker and Inde Navarette have said they played it both ways. Some takes made Nikki seem interested. Some didn’t. The edit blended them together so we would feel Bear’s confusion.
But the movie actually gives us the answer.
Nikki did not feel the same way Bear did.
Sarah says Nikki saw Bear like a little brother. Nikki and Ian were hooking up. The photo booth pictures show Nikki giving Ian the attention Bear wanted from her. Then Nikki’s Hansel and Gretel writing at the party leans into a sick & twisted brother/sister sexual dynamic, which wasn't random and felt like it should have come with a BRAZZERS logo attached to it.
We were meant to think that Nikki liking Bear was a possibility, because the movie is from Bear's perspective, but she never did.
Ian makes it even messier. He acts like he is helping Bear tell Nikki how he feels, but he is also giving him terrible advice while hiding the fact that he is sleeping with her. He knows Bear has no real chance, but still pushes him toward humiliation because it protects his own secret.
I think this is what makes OBSESSION land with the audiences so hard...it reflects the hurt a lot of young people face when they are on the lonely side of unrequited love.
Bear built a fantasy out of kindness, mixed signals, loneliness, jealousy, and bad advice from someone who knows more than he is saying.
The tragedy is that Nikki did love Bear.
Just not like that Bear wanted.
if you think this movie is “poorly lit” i think you’re stupid sorry. some of the best & most thoughtful lighting i’ve seen in a horror movie in a while
