This woman left her child and boyfriend to go on a multi-day bender, propositioned McGregor for sex, had her best friend who was in the room next door testify there was no assault, claimed to have no memory of the footage showing her all over her rapist after the "rape", and also couldn't recall then having sex with her rapist's friend after he left.
Despite these remarkable lapses in memory, she was still able to write a full length, best-selling book.
We have created enormous societal incentives for women to make false rape accusations at celebrities, and just shame anyone who raises questions. How do people not expect this to be abused?
I've always felt that every worker in the country might as well begin each working day with the modest but capital little ceremony of pledging allegiance to the King of England: one hand on the heart, the other raised in the Roman salute towards His Majesty's portrait.
It'd be a delightful little observance, costing not a brass farthing, demanding scarcely a flicker of exertion, and taking no more than a few seconds of one's morning.
Once compulsory, it would also spare a fellow of the ghastly nuisance of deciding whether to join in. He stands, puts a hand on his heart, salutes the King, & gets on with his work. What else is there to do?
Such a ceremony might profitably be customary throughout the Empire, and, following the formal restoration of the United States to the allegiance of the Crown, I can see no reason why it should not be extended thither also.
"But why?" someone might ask.
Because, for heaven's sake, why not?
There is, after all, a good deal to be said for doing a thing simply because nobody can produce a reason not to do it; and if ever there were a thing against which no conceivable objection could be raised, this is surely the ticket.
It is rather like taking off one's hat when a lady enters the room. One doesn't stand there like a buffoon with the thing nailed to one's skull, demanding a detailed account of the material advantages to be obtained from its removal.
Imagine a fellow doing that.
"Before I remove my hat, I should like to contemplate the benefit to be derived from this operation."
He would be laughed out of the room before he got halfway through the word "hat".
No; one simply takes the hat off. It is the done thing. It costs nothing, inconveniences nobody, and is over before any conveivable objection has had time to get its boots on.
The same rule applies here. Hand on heart, a brief pledge of allegiance to the king of England, a quick Roman salute towards His Majesty's portrait, and on with the business in hand. The whole affair is over in a matter of seconds.
To refuse to do it would be absurd.
So let the bally thing be compulsory throughout the Empire----and throughout the United States, too, when the time comes.
No questions, no tedious vacillation, no buffoon standing about wondering whether he feels strongly enough to join in. The command is given, the hand goes up, and that's that.
And there, by Jove, is where the matter can jolly well end.
Keep walking while attempting to stay alert, and you will make progress wandering.
Even in the dark in spite of the path obscure in appearance.
The path unclear, your route taken suboptimal it'll still lead somewhere.
Don't stop the forest will ckear up and get easier to navigate again.
Set aside some money you're comfortable losing same as you do for recreational gambling
Then bet on stocks using your intuition only, pure gut feeling trading on vibes alone.
It's what I did to begin with and went bacl to. It's working better than when I put effort into reasoning, a worthwhile experiment either way you'll learn.
I'll be listening to this on repeat.
While reading.
While taking it all in.

Experiencing difficult emotions.
Moral Disgust.
Indignant Grief.
Helplessness and Estrangement.
Started reading this book by the grandson of the priest assigned to Quisling while he was awaiting judgment.
Haven't gotten far yet, but the content contained within feels both strangely relevant and oddly fitting for what im going through.
Today I visited her.
A few years ago I wondered if I'd even be capable of shedding any tears for when she'd eventually be gone.
I don't remember how long ago, how many years it's been since I've able to feel grief like this.
Today I shed tears of sorrow.
I'm grateful, very grateful.
Immensely grateful for learning how to feel again.
More than words can express.
Being able to feel again feels so good.
This was very hard giving words to, but I'm satisfied.
anime getting closer to 1:1 adaptations actually sucks because directors are less likely to take risks or use unconventional approaches. they're increasingly expected to recreate manga panels shot for shot instead of actually adapting the work into animation
