🐋 Migaloo Chain Sunset & Asset Recovery Plan

Migaloo, as we know it today, will be coming to an end in the next few days. With the validator set now reduced to a few operators, we’re moving forward with a final, controlled shutdown of the network that ensures no user assets are lost.

Below is the bare-bones plan, outlining the steps we’re taking to preserve funds and provide a path for recovery.

1. Final Snapshot Taken
We have already taken a full chain snapshot, capturing all balances and contract-held assets.
This snapshot is the reference point for the recovery process.

2. Hard Fork to Consolidate All Assets
Within the next few days, we will perform a hard fork of Migaloo.

During this upgrade:

All remaining assets across the network—native balances, contract balances, and unclaimed funds—will be consolidated into a single recovery wallet.

This ensures that no tokens remain stranded in contracts when the chain shuts down.

3. Re-Establish IBC Connections
After the fork, governance proposals will be issued to reopen IBC channels from the forked Migaloo chain to:

Osmosis

Terra

Noble

These channels will allow the consolidated assets to be sent back to their appropriate home chains.

4. Asset Migration & Final Shutdown
Once the new IBC paths are active: All assets in the recovery wallet will be transferred out of the forked Migaloo chain.

After the transfers are confirmed, the chain will be fully shut down and all infrastructure will be turned off.

At that point, Migaloo will officially cease operations.

5. Community Transparency
To ensure clarity and trust, we will publish a public spreadsheet listing all outstanding assets captured in the snapshot, along with their associated addresses.

This will allow every community member to verify the data and confirm what they are entitled to recover.

Migaloo had an incredible run, and we want to end it responsibly.

This plan ensures user assets are preserved and recoverable, even as the chain sunsets.

More updates will follow as each step is completed.
