@snappity The west coast delay ran smoothly. About an hour in the queue and I was able to get 2 nosebleed, but good visibility (center stadium) for $100 each before fees for Friday night. (Cheapest was $84). Fees were "only" $30.
@Null82415144@FlyAwayRen@hankgreen Geriatric millineal HS psych teacher and mom of a 3rd, 7th g. kids weighing in here: that study was probably elem. school HW, which is different HS or college, & pre-internet days. Everyone needs to practice info retrieval, but it's going to look different across age/subjects.
#4 Intro psych can do better with accurately representing the need for non-human animal research. Rethinking the focus on the dark past of Harry Harlow's monkeys and replacing it with more of an optimistic future of purposeful research design that involves animals. #SfN22

3. There's something called the "breakfast table effect" that predicts kids go into similar careers as their parents. #sfn22 may be a little seed that opens up the world of careers beyond what my students might consider as career options, and there is a lot out there.

2. You belong here. Science wants you here. You are capable of learning anything you need to learn, and don't let anyone (including your own thoughts) tell you otherwise. People are willing to answer your questions and get excited about sharing knowledge. Show up. #SfN22
A few thoughts as a high school AP psychology teacher chaperoning 2 students at #SfN22.
1. So many people stressed you don't have to pick a science, but know how to Science. Plenty of people shared that they started in chem or electrical engineering and then found Neuro.

Thank you to Nancy Mariscal for taking time out of her busy day to answer questions about what a #schoolpsychologist does as part of the Psi Alpha guest speaker series at Hilltop High. We will highlight careers in psych last Thursday of every month. #suhsdpsych#psialpha#APpsych
@mshebertmusic By bike, an hour in the morning, hour and a half home (13 miles. Downhill there. Uphill and warm weather home.)
By car,30-40ish minutes for 20 miles.
I'm prepping for this next school year with #leadingedgeflex professional development. I'm most excited about bringing in adaptive and accessible tech for my students.
The at-home AP Exams this year will not include any multiple-choice questions, only free-response questions adapted for secure testing at home. They will measure skills that can't be learned from Google or chats with friends. By April 3, we will post the specifics for each exam.
