@yarmiganosca@Tjonesonthenba Good thing Trae is third all time in assists per game. His form of ball dominance is very different than every player you just named. I think AJ’s slashing style will complement him nicely.
@TotallyABurner_@PaintingAFox@Commies4Life@Domo8186 Those things do show up in the box score - it’s reflected in the player or a teammate scoring.
I’ll check out the interview, however double the assists in high school still doesn’t change the fact that his ast:to ratio was bad even in high school. Not good for an NBA lead guard
@The_DC_Bob You would think he’s a washed up 35 year old based on all the takes today.
AJ will also instantly be the best player he’s ever teamed up with. I’m sure both will be happy not having to carry the entire offensive load every game.
@TotallyABurner_@PaintingAFox@Commies4Life@Domo8186 What processing and decision making are you referring to? His ast:to ratio in high school and college do not support your subjective argument.
I never said DP doesn’t generate any rim pressure at all - just that he doesn’t do it nearly enough. DP himself said he’s a finesse guy
@TotallyABurner_@PaintingAFox@Commies4Life@Domo8186 He led the nation in points while also averaging twice as many assists as DP, while getting doubled all year on a worse team. I know what your response will be, but in no way can you conclude that DP is head and shoulders the superior processor or offensive engine.
@TotallyABurner_@PaintingAFox@Commies4Life@Domo8186 Such an elite processor would surely have higher than a 1.7 ast:to ratio in high school, which dropped to 1.0 in college.
You keep bringing up a processing gap that doesn’t actually exist while reducing AJ to just an athlete in many of your responses.
@TotallyABurner_@PaintingAFox@Commies4Life@Domo8186 I’m arguing that AJ generates significantly more rim pressure than DP. DP was not nearly as good at getting to the rim and drawing fouls as AJ. This is consistent in every draft profile and blatantly obvious when you watch the 2 play.
@TotallyABurner_@PaintingAFox@Commies4Life@Domo8186 there’s more to shooting than just 3s. He’s an elite mid range shooter and got significantly better as a playmaker in the second half of the season - better than DP in college.
I think DP is a fantastic prospect but you’re underselling AJ’s skill and reducing him to an athlete.
@TotallyABurner_@PaintingAFox@Commies4Life@Domo8186 Attacking from outside in is how teams live and die by the 3. That philosophy has gotten multiple teams killed in the playoffs when things condense.
Attacking the rim has always been the more consistent strategy.
@TotallyABurner_@PaintingAFox@Commies4Life@Domo8186 getting to the rim at will and drawing a double with the defense collapsing leaves someone wide open vs. a hard close out by 1 defender creating a driving lane.
Both have merit but the former creates wide open jumpers or draws fouls more consistently.
@Mik7t@Ant_promaster@ZAYYYTHEGOAT Lakers will match that offer and Reaves isn’t a lead guard. Paying that much for a guy who’s a 3rd option and averages half as many assists would be terrible
