Gwynne Raskind

Reality hacker and annoying know-it-all. The distance between what I seem and what I am is more than it appears.

[Gwynne Raskind @_AngeloidBeta]

@xenadu02 @numist @jdotk I had a... version... of this in 2012 (though it took the form of "finally" rather than "defer", to name just one of its several issues) : https://t.co/hWvLBGl4gL

[Gwynne Raskind @_AngeloidBeta]

@danielpunkass That sounds like an awfully transparent attempt to nerd-snipe at least one of the more ridiculously genius of your friends into building one for you 😆

[Gwynne Raskind @_AngeloidBeta]

@uliwitness @UINT_MIN Something like that is why I ended up writing https://t.co/1hECY6t5XQ 😅

[Gwynne Raskind @_AngeloidBeta]

@UINT_MIN @CodaFi_ And just a smidge of duct tape, of course.

[Gwynne Raskind @_AngeloidBeta]

@slava_pestov And here I thought I was just underfoot.

[Gwynne Raskind @_AngeloidBeta]

@lgerbarg @jfbastien @stephentyrone @jonmasters And yet you make it look so natural 🙃

[Gwynne Raskind @_AngeloidBeta]

@gparker @pedantcoder And I thought I was a stick in the cynical mud 🙂

@kangaroo5383 @Catfish_Man Honestly, David, I kinda love the idea of defining people like you and @UINT_MIN as "alpha males" according to Jessica's analysis of the meaning - instead of an essentialist, patriarchal insult, it becomes a really good way to encapsulate how I'd describe you ❤️

[Gwynne Raskind @_AngeloidBeta]

@slava_pestov @UINT_MIN @ireneista See also watching commands scroll by as GCC 2.x compiled in my MkLinux environment circa ~1998 or so ❤️❤️❤️

[Gwynne Raskind @_AngeloidBeta]

@peternlewis Oh, it's a SwiftUI List view!

[Gwynne Raskind @_AngeloidBeta]

@jfbastien @dgregor79 @maxdesiatov @aalonso128 @mortenditlevsen @stephentyrone @kateinoigakukun I find it deeply unsettling that it's now more of an achievement to write basic system support code in JavaScript than to write it in assembly language.

[Gwynne Raskind @_AngeloidBeta]

@joscdk I have sworn by iTerm for a long time; Terminal has caught up a lot, but it's still missing quite a bit for someone who uses the commandline often enough. (Unless Terminal finally got native tmux integration at some point, but even then...)

[Gwynne Raskind @_AngeloidBeta]

@joscdk @siemensikkema Aren't these things freaking amazing? ❤️

[Gwynne Raskind @_AngeloidBeta]

@dgregor79 @slava_pestov @aciidb0mb3r Meanwhile I've been waiting 3 weeks for an answer out of you on Slack, Doug 😜

[Gwynne Raskind @_AngeloidBeta]

@twostraws I can vouch for the truth of this - it's the kind of app you can tell @jamesthomson was pretty much just having a ton of fun making ❤️

[Gwynne Raskind @_AngeloidBeta]

@Catfish_Man @phausler As if DispatchQueue.main.async {} wasn't tautological enough.

[Jim Sciutto @jimsciutto]

“Today’s verdict means there is no accountability for the person who murdered our son. It sends the unacceptable message that armed civilians can show up in any town, incite violence, and then use the danger they have created to justify shooting people.” -family of Anthony Huber

[Gwynne Raskind @_AngeloidBeta]

@ashtom Thomas, if you keep pulling stuff like that out of your hat you're gonna make me start thinking GitHub knows what it's doing again... 😜 (And then I'm going to have some words for you about Actions 😆)
