Child of God, You must understand that Christianity is not a religion, Christianity is Divinity expressed through humanity. You must understand that you are not a Christian because you are part of a church, You are a Christian because because CHRIST IN YOU is the hope of glory!
@DunsinOyekan Indeed a meeting not to be missed, I thank God that I was present, The fashions of our countenance was altered! Sir please I would like to have the "Upper room confession" it kept replaying in my spirit.
If you are a believer struggling with masturbation, fornication, or any addiction; here's a way out:
First, there is bad news and good news.
The bad news is you are struggling with a sin.
The good news is sin has been dealt with in Christ for the believer.
This means that there is a sure way to get out of any addiction backed up by God's very power.
This is the first thing you must believe.
That Jesus has dealt with the power that addiction has over you.
That said, the first step to breaking free from an addiction is to understand the anatomy of sin.
Or the stages of the development of sin.
Sin has three stages, just like larvae, pupae, and adult in insects.
The first stage is desire.
The second stage is action(the sin itself).
The third stage is maturation(death- spiritual).
See it here in Scripture-
James 1:15
"Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death."
The desire stage is when you feel like committing the act.
This is the temptation stage. Everyone experiences this.
Baba Adeboye recently said he still runs away from lust to date.
But desire is not sin.
In fact, overcoming this desire and choosing holiness is a great gain.
However, not all Christians overcome these desires.
Some give in to it.
Then the second stage of action happens.
When that happens, we must repent of our sins-
1 John 1:9
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."
But in your case, something is wrong.
Your desire stage has been hijacked.
There is an external spiritual force making you always susceptible to falling to these desires.
When desire becomes something irresistible, a demon is likely involved.
The demon of lust. Remember, demons are persons without bodies.
They have intelligence, will, and emotions.
But they are bodiless.
So, they desperately seek a host body so they can express their nature.
Therefore, the demon of lying needs a tongue.
The demon of death needs a hand to kill.
The demon of lust needs a body to commit the act.
So, how do you break free from this possible demonic hold?
Well, the domain of the activity of demons of lust enslaving you is your desires.
That is where we must cure.
Your desire source has been defiled. It must be washed.
This is what the living word of God does!
There are parts of your being that only the word of God can get to.
It is the word that washes. The problem is defilement.
The solution is the washing word.
See what Scripture says:
Heb. 4:12
"For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."
See that? The word has universal permeability to your entire being.
But what does it do? It washes!
Heb. 10:22
"let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water."
The word washes us and purifies us.
This is the way to break out of addiction!
It sounds simple? Well, the gospel is simple.
So how do you do this?
Pick up the New Testament.
Read 3 chapters daily till you finish it.
Be humble to receive the word. Start living by them.
Pray daily to know God more and more as you read about Him in the New Testament.
Fast once a week, at least.
Before you finish the NT, your desire source would have been purified.
That desire that's been hijacked will dry up.
Brethren, quote us anywhere- no demon can withstand a soul saturated by the word of God!
Along the way, you may relapse, but repent and keep going.
This is how to break free of any addiction.
The washing power of the Word and sanctifying work of the Spirit:
1 Pet. 1:2
"Who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the SANCTIFYING WORK OF THE SPIRIT, to be obedient to Jesus Christ and sprinkled with his blood."
This is how you break free from addictions.
Start today.
Finally, Satan will exaggerate your addiction. He will tell you there's no way out.
Don't listen.
The power of sin has been broken unless Jesus didn't die.
Jesus died. The power of sin died.
You are free.
Amen.
