@wombatstuff i'm awfully late to the party but tunic went from a cute game i wanted to play to "holy shit this is one of my favorite things ever".
thought it did its "obtuseness twist" really well and in a way that felt natural to discover things
@Mrts33k @axleblazeSA@ScrubQuotesX that's ok, you can read section 13 -Termination, where they explain in detail their ban powers.
you're not worth any more time than i have already spent and i hope your local community despises you
@NonTrotski as someone that only watched the original last year, it has a lot of stuff that aged really poorly, and the constant fight to go back to the status quo even if it made no sense and made the characters stupid and inconsistent got really tiresome.
kinda hoping this isn't a 1:1 lol
@Richmond_Lee@NonTrotski Not me finding out that 2D skeletal not only isn't a universal term but isn't even close to being the most popular pick in the poll
@Programancer zelda 2 and castlevania 2 are such fascinating games. they were so ahead of their time, but the design inexperience of the industry and the hardware limitations, as well as being very different from the originals, gave them both a terrible reputation.
@NonTrotski I had my N64 installed when i got the collection, and could play mario 64 just fine on it, but the port feels awful to control. A lot of the NSO games have the same issue.
@NonTrotski The port is pretty bad, so that doesn't help. Nintendo apparently forgets that the sensitivity of the N64 analog stick was very different, so a lot of their N64 ports feel bad to control when they wouldn't on original hardware.
@W_Defender@illusorywall if you have big rot pots, your mimic can use them. i like scarlet aeonia because it's a big rot nuke, i don't know how effective other spells are. but rot is so much damage, it helps a lot
i basically waited until he was fighting the mimic and had his back to me, then hit him.
@W_Defender@illusorywall i basically only attacked him after his sword swings, which were easier to dodge, and then threw lightning spears if he wasn't aiming at me (and was rotted in phase 2). the spear deals a lot of poise damage if it hits the back, i got a handful of crits this way
@W_Defender@illusorywall for what it's worth, the rocks are the same: once he's in the air, sprint sideways and jump when the rocks are about to hit you.
light clones i just rolled sideways and prayed lol, sometimes most of them missed, sometimes i ate half the hits, sometimes all of them lol
@W_Defender@illusorywall you can roll the pull itself, but if you fail, just hold sprint away immediately and try to time the jump with him summoning the rocks. takes a few tries to get the hang of it and sometimes you still take some chip damage but it's fairly consistent.
@W_Defender@illusorywall that said it was 2 nights worth of attempts and learning the dodge patterns on the melee attacks and looking up how to dodge the weirder moves (like the follow up to the gravity pull, which requires a sprint + timed jump instead of dodging + praying lol)
@W_Defender@illusorywall i found that the mini lasers miss a lot more if i dodge towards him instead of sideways or back. that and holy talisman + holy protect spell means even the nuke doesn't hurt too much if i can't outrun it, and the clones hardly hurt either. and these all affect the mimic as well
@W_Defender@SimplyHammer@illusorywall for what it's worth, i ran faith. black blade opening (always) and scarlet aeonia to get the rot proc asap even at the cost of a chug. also charged knight's lightning spear is so so good when you have someone taking the attention from you
@W_Defender@illusorywall my solution was mimic tear + having big rot pots on my quick access so the mimic would use them, and try to get the mimic +physik only right before the second phase... and then praying i get a good pattern that doesn't nuke it.
and a bunch of defensive talismans + spells
