Important Update on Road Closures | Pune Grand Tour – Prologue Stage
12 Noon - 4:00 PM only.

I have spoken with Additional Commissioner of Police Shri Manoj Patil ji, who has confirmed that Fergusson College Road, Jangli Maharaj Road, and University Road will be closed only between 12 noon and 4.00 pm tomorrow, Monday, 19 January, to facilitate the Prologue (time-trial) stage of the Pune Grand Tour.

Race route (Prologue Stage):
The individual time-trial will begin at Goodluck Chowk, proceed up to Masobha Gate, take a left towards University Road, make a U-turn near Cosmos Bank, continue down towards Sancheti, take a right turn onto JM Road, and conclude at the Khandojibaba Chowk.

We understand that this temporary traffic restriction may cause inconvenience to commuters and residents. However, this is also a unique opportunity for Pune to host and showcase an international cycling event on a global platform.

I encourage citizens to plan their travel accordingly and, if possible, come out to cheer for the cyclists and be part of this proud moment for our city.

Propelled by rising mobile phone and internet access, India is witnessing an exponential growth in digital payments.

Just two decades ago, more than 95% of the money spent every day on major retail payments was made using cheques. However, digital retail payments, including NEFT, the Immediate Payments Service (IMPS), credit and debit cards, and Unified Payments Interface (UPI), now account for 90% of all the money spent on major retail payments according to statistics maintained by the Reserve Bank of India.

Despite being introduced much earlier than NEFT and UPI, debit and credit cards have grown more slowly.

Registered debit cards grew in number in the first two decades of the 21st century, and there are now nearly one billion debit cards in India, according to RBI statistics. However, their growth has plateaued in recent years. The number of credit cards is far lower at 100 million, but has been growing since the mid-2010s, doubling every five years.
