INJURY WRECK – Car falls 15 feet and lands on the highway
On Saturday, April 11, 2026, at approximately 5:08 a.m., we responded to the area of 4100 Southwest Blvd after receiving reports of a vehicle that had crashed off the roadway.
Dispatch advised that a child could be heard crying at the scene.
When we arrived, we saw that the vehicle had gone over the bridge and fallen approximately 15 feet onto the eastbound lanes of I-244, where it was lying on its roof.
Officers from TPD and OHP blocked the highway to get Tulsa Fire and EMSA access to the scene.
The 17-year-old driver was traveling westbound on West 41st Street when he didn’t stop at the stop sign at 25th West Avenue and Southwest Blvd. He then failed to make the turn in the slight curve in the road and struck the curb.
The car then went airborne over a drainage ditch, crashed through a fence, and fell onto the interstate below.
The driver, 18-year-old passenger, and 1-year-old child were in the car when it crashed.
The child wasn’t in a car seat and was injured in the wreck; she was transported by ambulance to the hospital and is expected to recover.
This case is still under investigation, and charges against the driver are possible.
