@promontis@threejs@WebGPU@Andersonmancini Looks great. When you say they are "gpu compute-baked" do you mean sw rasterized w compute shaders ? Or just rendered to atlas and compute compressed to bc7 ?
@RGrayGames I haven't used Unreal in the last 5 years, but 30ms for 2000 moving cubes with physics seems like way too much. Maybe an order of magnitude off my expectations on a reasonably modern device. Are you sure you arent hitting some pathological bad case ?
@rustforthewin @n86b_@TheGingerBill It's temporary in the sense that it uses the temporary allocator, which is usually just a bump alloc that can be very cheaply restored once the function returns. Necessary because Jai strings arent usually 0-terminated
@maxliani Two questions: how do nodes store hierarchy ? Just parent & sibling index or something else ? And what are you caching exactly ? What node would be visible in each line in the tree view ?
@maxliani Yeah. Coming from games I wouldnt have thought you can get sharp-enough shadows without explictly pointing rays towards a known light. Thats pretty cool
@maxliani What about the sun shadows ? You just rely on naturally scattered sky-ray occlusion ? Or is there a special-case thing to bias for the sun direction ?
@AlexJayBrady I'm looking for someone to make some concepts/mockups for a game I'm working on. Based on the work on your gumroad the styles are close. If you're interested DM me. Paid ofc
@theodorvaryag Maybe I misunderstood your point, but you did say "oh a highly dynamic language with a lot more information available at runtime ran faster with JIT than strictly static AOT?". Which to me sounded besides the point of the quoted thread, which compared two interpreters
Here’s a mockup for a game I’m making with @_Cerbu_:
You’re a rogue ace pilot taking on the deadliest machines weaponized corporations can throw at you. Fast-paced action, gripping story, the works.
More soon!
