Oscar Smith HS 6’4 2028 Travis Gordon is going to be a problem! Long, athletic and agile, an explosive leaper! Travis is active as a rebounder and rebounds outside his area. A quick leaper. He handles the ball well enough to go end to end with dribble quickly and even slice through traffic and get to the rim. Finishes with thunderous two hand slams. Solid off ball threat as he finds open areas, makes quick decisive cuts, has great hands and footwork on mid range catch and shoot opportunities or finishes around the rim. Get to know that name! Oscar Smith 6’6 2029 Shawn Mercer is a fantastic athlete, high energy with explosive athleticism at the small forward spot. Fluid footwork and a highly efficient finisher, able to handle contact in traffic. He runs the floor showing good quickness, long graceful strides and agility. He can get his shot off the bounce. Rebounds both ends of the floor and is an excellent repeat jumper. Shawn can defend 3-5 effectively even stepping out in space to defend the dribble. Excellent finisher in transition. Oscar Smith HS 6’5 2029 Elliott Carpenter has length and versatility, nimble footwork and a great motor and is one of the states best 2029 prospects! Strong and athletic frame. Defensively he demonstrates his quick footwork and agility with the ability to guard either wing in space. Really moves his feet nicely, excellent lateral quickness and he uses his length effectively. Anticipates nicely in passing lanes. On the offensive end he can score it out of the post showing the physicality to play through contact in the paint and at the rim. Elliott can finish either with his back to the basket or facing the rim and given his comfort as a 2/3 type he is more of a threat facing the rim with his versatility. He can get his shot off the bounce using crossovers, rangy strides and quickness and he can knock down the jumper even out beyond the arc. He’s a freshman and already demonstrates the ability to impact a game in multiple areas on both ends of the floor and his upside is exciting! We featured Elliott previously as he was part of a Virginia Elite 757 team that was one of the top AAU programs in the state last year in that age group. Oscar Smith 5’10 2027 Kelley King is one of the states best playmakers. The Tigers were undersized last year but were one of the 757’s best teams and he was key in that success. HS Coaches often complain about breaking “AAU” habits. Lots of time the opposite is true. AAU Coaches have 2 break “HS” habits. Lack of urgency, playing soft due 2 refs calling everything in HS, casual habits that lead 2 turnovers. Not pass faking vs pressure, not playing off 2.
