@coachj_bo21 Hinging open vs outside releases puts the CB in a dominant position to play second-level vertical concepts. To the QB it initially looks like man during the release phase, but once the CB hinges open after the release, he’s in position to match those vertical routes.

@coachj_bo21 Easiest teach. With flat-read safeties reading mesh and #2’s release, the CB still gets help on the slant if #2 goes inside within ~5 yards. The beauty is the CB technique on outside releases—cutting the release off just like man coverage, then snatch and hinge open on #1.
