RECRUITING TIP 🚨
Athletes: don’t wait until you NEED an offer to start building relationships with college coaches.
Your weekly routine should include:
🎥 Update your film
📊 Update your stats
📩 Contact schools that fit your level
📱 Engage with coaches/recruiting staff
🏈 Keep producing
Recruiting isn’t one viral post or one DM.
It’s consistent evidence + consistent communication.
And before you start sending film everywhere, know what level you realistically project to play.
That’s why evaluation comes first.
— Clutch Culture Sports
Most athletes think following a coach on X gets them noticed.
The coach seeing your film gets you noticed.
Follow them. Then DM the position coach a highlight with your grad year and one sentence on why their scheme fits how you play.
🥎 STOP LOOKING AT COLLEGE DIVISIONS LIKE A HIERARCHY.
D1 does not automatically mean “better” than D2.
D2 does not automatically mean “better” than D3 or NAIA.
There are NAIA and D3 programs that can compete with — and beat — D2 and D1 programs.
Every division has strong programs.
Every division has rebuilding programs.
Every division has elite athletes.
And every division has its own strengths and weaknesses.
The label next to the school’s name doesn’t tell you:
🥎 How competitive the program is
🥎 How talented the roster is
🥎 How much playing time you’ll get
🥎 How good the coaching staff is
🥎 How strong the academics are
🥎 How much you’ll develop
🥎 How much financial aid you may receive
🥎 How happy you’ll be there
One of the biggest mistakes recruits make is assuming:
D1 → D2 → D3 → NAIA → JUCO
That’s simply not how college softball works.
Instead of asking, “What’s the highest division I can play?”
Start asking:
“Where can I compete, develop, contribute and have a great college experience?”
Don’t let a division label cause you to overlook a program that could be an incredible fit.
Find YOUR level. Find YOUR opportunity. Find YOUR school.
— Coach Jennifer Turner
🚩🚩🚩🚩
Meets you once at a camp
Changes your hitting/pitching/throwing form
You do, because you desperately want to prove you’re coachable
They never see you again and never have to take accountability for the effect - good bad or disastrous
🚩🚩🚩🚩
Athletes…you don’t have to let every single person come in your house and start rearranging the furniture
You need to get final say, always. Try all the things, be respectful, but YOU get final say where the kitchen table goes
Pitchers,
You’re more than the one throwing the ball. You’re the competitor, the tone-setter, the leader, and the one who embraces the pressure when the game is on the line. 🥎🔥
Infielders,
You’re more than a glove on the dirt. You’re quick reactions, strong communication, relentless effort, and the confidence to make the play when your team needs you most.
Outfielders,
You’re more than a player in the grass. You’re speed, range, communication, and the confidence to track down the ball when the game is on the line. 🔥🥎
Back on the recruiting trail this weekend! @_Coach_Cara will be in Rock Hill for the Labor Day Team Camp tourney. Drop your schedules here or email us your schedule at [email protected] or [email protected]
The next level doesn’t just want talented players. It wants competitors. Leaders. Teammates. Students. Be more than your stats. Be someone a program wants to build with.
We need to stop making young athletes feel like anything below D1 is a consolation prize.
September 1 gets treated like the entire future of a softball player comes down to whether a Division I coach calls.
It doesn’t.
Division I is an incredible opportunity!
(for the players whose ability and fit match that level)
But there is also D2. D3. NAIA. JUCO.
Great coaches.
Great programs.
Teammates who become family.
College degrees.
And the opportunity to keep playing the game you love.
Had the funnest time at the MU Elite Clinic, Thank you so much @_Coach_Alex_ and @_Coach_Cara for this wonderful opportunity. I cannot wait to be back, Go Monarchs💚👑
