@perrymetzger@DavidSKrueger Companies are making people redundant because of AI. AI is provably currently having a negative impact on the economical situation for many people. That is distinct from the use of AI for medicine.
⚠️Experts Warn: Social Media Age Checks Are Dangerous
In a joint statement, 419 researchers say that forcing users to prove their age online could pose major risks to privacy and security.
Many proposals involve government ID checks, biometric selfies, or AI age estimation, which would require platforms to collect far more sensitive personal data than they do today.
Experts say this could expose users to data breaches, fraud, and surveillance, while likely failing to stop minors from accessing content.
Age checks can easily be bypassed with VPNs, borrowed accounts, or fake credentials, and governments may respond by restricting VPNs, which are vital tools for journalists, activists, and people protecting their privacy.

@yarratrams Why is the tram tracker app unable to tell us which trams are route 58 and which trams are going to gate 3 (useless to all the people waiting at York St)
@yarratrams When trams pull into stops like Anzac Station, if they dont have both mirrors open how do drivers see what's happening on the platform? Answer: they don't, at least not with the older trams.
@Optus You recently invited me to respond to a survey. There was something I forgot to add: STOP ASKING FOR EMAIL ADDRESSES! That's what I do for work, I dont want to look at email when I finish work.
@qantas whatever plane you have doing QF419 down to Melbourne tonight needs to be taken out of rotation after this flight to fix the high pitch squeel in the second half of economy that makes the plane borderline torture to be on.
@VicRoads@VictoriaPolice I routinely see foreigners incorrectlg doing hook turns from the Clarendon St (South Melbourne), with one driver turning as I was half way across York St just now. What can be done to better educate drivers how to turn safely? This is not the first time.
@yarratrams Do tram drivers respect traffic lights? Just watched 244 ( rt 12) go through a red light down Clarendon St after being stopped at York St. No "T" light there. Light turned orange, tram was stopped, just before it turns red the tram starts, entering intersection on red
@yarratrams Just watched 2532 run a red light at St Kilda and Toorak Rd. T was red too. Light was orange, tram starts moving, lights are red, tram not in intersection, but keeps rolling and enters intersection on red. If there were red light cameras, that would be 3 points.
