When I say I love you more, I don’t mean I love you more than you love me. I mean I love you more than the bad days ahead of us, I love you more than any fight we will ever have. I love you more than the distance between us. I love you the most
The older I get, the more I realize I don’t need everyone to understand me. I just need to stop exhausting myself trying to explain myself to people who aren’t willing to take the time to know me
I don’t think people realise how much of your personality can disappear when you don’t feel emotionally safe around someone. I become quieter. More careful with my words. Less playful, less expressive, less willing to let myself be seen. You’ll still know me. You’ll still recognize my face, hear my voice, and know the basic version of who I am. But you won’t know the version of me that comes out when I feel completely safe. The loud, silly, affectionate, unfiltered version that doesn’t have to think twice before being herself. What looks like a change in personality is simply a person becoming smaller because they no longer feel safe enough to be fully themselves.
You don't notice how emotionally drained you are until the smallest disappointment starts breaking you apart. It's never about the last thing; it's about everything before it.
I’m having such a hard time, I just pray God gives me the ability to pick myself back up and handle everything as he always does. But God am I tired and I feel defeated.
People like me don't really have people. We're the people that other people have. The ones who listen, stay, reassure, and carry everyone else through their hardest moments. But when we fall apart, we usually do it alone. Because somewhere along the way, we became so used to being needed that nobody noticed we needed people too.
I feel like I talked to much this year, like I begged to be understood, & overly explained myself & tried to convince people of my worth. & that’s something I’ll never do again. I’m done talking.
Being alone when I really needed help changed me. It taught me not to expect too much from anybody and not to assume people gonna show up the way I would. I learned how to figure things out on my own, keep going without asking, and stay quiet about what I be dealing with. That’s why I move different now. I still got love for people, but I don’t expect nothing from them. Once life show you what it feel like to only have yourself, you start depending on you in a whole different way.
I think there’s a stage in life where you just become quiet. You stop fighting for friendships, stop forcing people to stay and just start figuring your life out. Whoever understands stays, whoever doesn’t, leaves. And you just let them.
One skill I’m learning to value more is emotional regulation. Knowing how to stay calm under pressure, sit with uncomfortable feelings, and not let people pull you out of character. Not every feeling needs a reaction. Sometimes the real growth is learning how to pause, process it, and choose how you respond.
I’m really proud of myself because I know how far I came, even if nobody else fully understands it. People see where I’m at now, but they don’t know everything it took for me to get here. I had to figure a lot out on my own, keep going through things I never talked about, and still find a way to become better. I know what it took to become who I am now, and that means everything to me.
