They made me sign a waiver before the wings arrived.
A paper. To eat. As though courage came with a release form.
The cheerful waiter set the plate down like a man delivering a verdict. "These are the Infernos. Most people tap out. There's milk if you need it."
I looked at the milk. The milk looked back. We understood each other. Neither of us would be needed tonight.
"I will not be requiring the milk," I said.
The first bite arrived like a small sunrise behind the eyes.
(My tongue filed a formal complaint. My eyes opened a second one. I overruled them both.)
A man does not ask the fire to be gentler. He only becomes harder to burn.
I did not reach for water. I did not wave a hand before my mouth. I sat, straight-backed, and ate the Infernos one by one, the way a man receives ten thousand letters of bad news without changing his face.
Beside me, a college boy attempting the same challenge was weeping openly into a napkin. So, between bites, I turned to him and said, calmly, that the fire is not the enemy — the wish for it to stop is the enemy. He stared. Then he picked up another wing.
When the waiter returned, expecting wreckage, he found an empty plate and a samurai sitting in perfect, sweating peace.
"...sir. You want the wall? You're on the wall now. People take a photo."
I rose. I bowed to the plate. I bowed to the kitchen, where unseen hands had forged so worthy a trial.
"Thank you for the fire," I told them.
Then I turned to the room and said, with smoke still somewhere in my soul:
"Comfort teaches a man nothing. Bless the meal that fights back."
The college boy lifted his last wing like a torch. The cook came out to shake my hand. The whole table behind me began, softly, to applaud the strange calm man who had thanked them for the burning.
I walked out into the cool evening, mouth aflame, heart entirely at peace.
A small fire, faced well, is just another way to know you are alive.
ALERT: 18-year-old Florida teen spits on cops who were transporting her to a mental facility and ends up getting arrested.
Autumn Bellows was intoxicated and distressed, and upon the arrival of Flagler County Sheriffs, deputies determined Bellows met the criteria for Florida's involuntary protective custody.
When in the back of the police car, Bellows began kicking and smashing her head into the car, causing officers to need to restrain her further.
Bellows then spat on an officer's head, and they applied a spit mask to her.
Sheriff Rick Staly said Bellows asked deputies to take her to jail and wanted criminal charges.
Bellows is charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, a felony under Florida law.
This quietly happened today…👀
ActBlue CEO Invokes Fifth Amendment 22 Times During House Probe Into Foreign Donation Vetting
The only reasons you plead the fifth:
1. To avoid providing evidence that could lead to their own criminal charges
2. Because the questions touch on potentially ILLEGAL ACTIVITY
3. Their testimony could expose their crimes, their organization, or associates to investigation
4. As she said, “on the advice of her council”, she is trying to avoid a perjury trap where she knows she did something wrong and this avoids her going on record.

Every single Democrat voted against the Secure America Act, proving yet again that they put illegal aliens over the safety and security of Americans.

UNREAL.
You won't believe how Norwegian state media reported what happened in Belfast.
They said that "far-right groups" had "claimed" that the attack was an attempted beheading.
Media once again trying to shift the narrative.
Fasting causes hair loss by increasing fat burning.
“It is worth noting that dramatic weight loss by any means is also known to be associated with hair loss, known as telogen ef uvium.”
Rodent research:
“Upon fasting, adrenal glands produce hormones, cortisol and epinephrine, which then cause lipolysis to release free fatty acids. The release of these free fatty acids near the hair follicles causes apoptosis of HFSC and subsequently blocks hair growth.”
“Ketogenic and high-fat diets are known to induce lipolysis and increase circulating free fatty acids, and therefore it will be important to determine the effects of other specific diets and feeding regiment to further understand the effect on HFSCs and the hair cycle as well as stem cells in all other tissues.”
How it works:
—Hair growth is controlled by hair follicle stem cells (HFSCs)
—Intermittent fasting (IF) kills HSFCs
—Fasting increases stress hormones
—Stress hormones elevate lipolysis
—Increased lipolysis releases excess free fatty acids
—Free fatty acids kill HFSCs
—Blocking fatty acid oxidation prevents HFSC death
—Injecting stress hormones locally increases lipolysis and HFSC death
—Vitamin E prevents HFSC death in fasted mice
—Vitamin E decreases the lipid peroxidation of the free fatty acids
“Antioxidants like vitamin E can combat oxidative stress, and topical application of vitamin E on the skin of fasted mice indeed effectively prevented HFSC apoptosis and allowed hair growth to a similar degree to control mice.”
Human follicle research:
“To further support these findings, we established a human hair follicle explant model and performed similar free fatty acid (FFA) treatments. Evident apoptotic signals can be identified within human hair follicles where active cycling HFSCs and progenitor cells are located,65,66 along with elevated 8-oxoG signals in these cells. Together, these findings provide evidence that similar to mouse HFSCs, human HFSCs also experience increased ROS production and subsequent mitochondria dysfunction, eventually undergoing apoptosis when switching to utilizing FFAs.”
I don’t think the Europeans understand that “Americans who like soccer” and “Americans who like Donald Trump” are two groups that pretty much don’t overlap.
@newstart_2024 I've done it like four times, but unfortunately, people peer pressure me endlessly to eat their free food. I'm going to end up eating for free always.
