WhatsApp just added Usernames! 🎉
Big privacy upgrade: Now you can connect with people without sharing your phone number. Share your WhatsApp username instead — perfect for new contacts, groups, or keeping your number private.
Why this matters:
• Your phone number stays hidden when someone messages you via username.
• Usernames are optional — you can still use WhatsApp the old way.
• No public search directory (people need your exact username to contact you).
• You can change or remove it anytime.
How to Reserve / Set Your WhatsApp Username (Super Easy Steps):
1. Update WhatsApp to the latest version from the App Store or Google Play.
2. Open WhatsApp → Go to Settings (three dots on Android / bottom tab on iPhone).
3. Tap Account → Username.
4. Choose your option:
• Create a new username (3–35 characters, letters, numbers, periods, underscores).
• Or link and use your existing Instagram or Facebook username (if available).
5. Type your desired username → WhatsApp checks availability → Tap Save.
Bonus Privacy Tip: After setting it up, you can add a Username Key (like a password) so only people who know the key can message you via username.
Pro Tip: Reserve yours quickly before popular names get taken! The full feature (messaging via username) is rolling out gradually.
What username did you pick? Drop it in the comments (if you want to share)! 👇
